I actually thought the league was about to fold. The Las Vegas team folded last year and closed up shop right before the playoffs....that they qualified for.

I was at one game in Orlando where they cut the entire team an hour before kickoff and replaced them with whatever random dudes they could find around town who played football in high school. So that was fun and also the last time I ever bought tickets to an AFL game.
