Summerpalooza VII Music/Football Draft - Congratulations Three-Time Leeg Champ Eephus (2 Viewers)

Added Brenton Strange, TE, Jaguars

I guess I’ll go for a new Christmas single by Bartees Strange - X-Mas

Added Bengals DT/ST in advance of their intrastate matchup with Browns.

I’ll stick with a 2024 release, from a band out of Akron from their Ohio Players album.

The Black Keys - On the Game

D'Onta Foreman - RB - Cleveland

Bruce Forman - Chasin' the Blues

I didn't know Foreman was still in the league.

Bruce Forman is a talented bebop-influenced guitar player from the Bay Area who had the misfortune to come along in the early 80s which was kind of a deadzone for bebop. His career zagged towards western swing and movie soundtrack music but he still plays around today. This song is from his 1980 debut album Coast to Coast.

Added Hollywood Brown, WR, Chiefs

Hollywood - The Cranberries

Eephus and Larry will battle each other in the championship.

Marco, it sucks Josh Jacobs got rested so early. He was having a great game, and I think those less than 6 more points you needed to get the win were achievable had he not gotten pulled out of the game starting in the 3rd quarter.

Marco and Don will square off for 3rd and 4th place.

Good luck everyone.

Thanks simey. I also think I would’ve pulled it off had Jacobs played the full game, but that’s the way if goes in FF.

Congrats to @Eephus and @Long Ball Larry. The 1 and 2 seeds deserve to be in the title game. Best of luck to both.

Congrats to the two title contenders. Both deserving after the season that they had. I was worried that my loss was going to come down to my stinginess about not wanting to pay for in-flight WiFi on my flight Sunday morning/afternoon, so I missed the late update that Njoku was active. But LBL beat me by enough to make my stinginess not make a difference.

You could have easily won but for Lamb and Watson being hobbled. I was definitely sweating it last night as one Watson bomb could have turned it.

I also was lucky to go up against Josh Allen in this league and another this week in his worst game. Happy to be in the championship, but you really could have won easily (not sure if that makes you feel better or worse…)

Charles Mingus - "Pussycat Dues"

Unless I do another transaction tomorrow, this season's playlist will be 44 songs in length which is right in line with 2021's 42 and 2023's 43. The mix begins with Sun Ra and ends with Mingus.

"Pussycat Dues" is a track from one of Mingus' most accessible albums Mingus Ah Um. Jimmy Knepper's trombone solo is its highlight.

Don't love Christmas falling during championship week.

I just caught the humor in the ordering of this. I will say that the NFL, who knows Week 17 is the fantasy finals and also Christmas, has given us one of the bigger ****burgers I can remember with this schedule.
It’s silly. 6 games before Sunday is just not what fans need.

We were still unwrapping presents when the Wednesday early game kicked off.

The only NFL I watched on Xmas was Beyonce.

Roy Hargrove - "Brown"

Curtis Fuller Quintet - "Undecided"

There were so many bad QBs playing this week that I couldn't settle on a starting DST.

The eight hours I thought I wanted the Browns was long enough to fit Roy Hargrove into this year's playlist. He was a wonderful trumpeter who made as good a case as anyone to be the spiritual successor to Miles Davis.

"Undecided" is a jazz standard written by Charlie Shavers in 1938. This version from 1959 is led by trombonist Curtis Fuller joined by a quintet including saxophonist Benny Golson who died earlier this year at the age of 95.

Trying to move through the stages of grief quickly here and seeing Sadness as a Gift

Doing The Denial Twist

Before moving by into Anger

Though I wonder if Eephus might want to strike a Bargain and have a split championship a la Ga Tech-Colorado?

Ok fine, right now, all by myself Depression‘s got a hold of me…

Still not convinced that Jameson Williams won’t score 15 TDs tonight, but I will prepare a concession speech just in case

Meaningless pickup of Hendon Hooker for no other reason than was in a John Lee Hooker mood.

The Motor City is Burning
