Arian Foster sits out 1st Quarter (1 Viewer)

Kubiak is clearly facing the Foster owner in his fantasy league this week.

He saw 3 first half carries after an apparently missing a team meeting and also misisng the first quarter and most of the second.

No knowledge of this was apparently available anywhere.

This one is starting off well.Let's try and keep it on track.
Have been searching the net for the past few minutes and everything that I have came across that seems to be remotely reliable just says that Texans officials confirmed it was a Coaches disjoin and that the question would of why would be answered after the game.Although I find it very odd that the reporters didn't ask Kubiak after the first half was over.

This situation is reminiscent of Mike Sims-Walker's surprise shutdown last year after missing a curfew.

As I type this I see I missed a HUGE Foster play. Phew.

It's obviously a bigger deal for fantasy guys than other NFL watchers, but you'd think more would have been made of it during the broadcast.Every year we get one or 2 of these coaches decisions affecting fantasy starters and this one is argubably the biggest so far.Let's hope the Kubiak explanation is a good one

Looking forward to hearing this explanation as well. I wonder if it's a situation similar to MSW last year in Seattle. Not necessarily a lady friend, but missing a curfew or something.

I dont care as long as he gets me 50yds and a TD in the 2nd half
In before what will probably become a lock. Tensions are high!
Nah, let's keep this on topic and we're cool.
I thought Arian Foster was the topic at hand?
It is, it was directed at the reply not your comment.
FWIW, I think he was talking about Foster getting 50yd/1td being a lock, not the thread being lockedAnd now, back to the Foster dance party :pickle:

Me too - I am playing the worst team in my league and missing Foster could have cost me the game - Now I am back on track - Thank Goodness!

As I stated in the game thread - you are actually punishing the team more than the player by holding him out for part of the game.

In College they sit - but in the League they pay

Right. I know Foster owners are biased, but you would believe you would want the guys most likely to produce available at all times. Aren't there other ways to punish players rather than screwing around with playing time? What about making them run laps? That's embarrassing enough isn't it?

I don't know, sitting someone out whether it's middle school or pro ultimately hurts the team but you hope that you have the kind of team that respects the coach for not putting up with crap and it's afraid to play with the other players that are with the program. In this case, it's hard to argue with the coach, seemed to motivate Foster just fine if you ask me.

I see what your saying regarding the broadcast from an NFL standpoint rather than our FF views. The reason I was surprised by the non-mention of this at halftime was because so many networds NBC, CBS, etc... have added a "Fantasy Football" section to their pre-game broadcasts that they know people watch it for that reason also.Anyways, I am with you Hicks, I will be waiting to see what Kubiak's explanation for this undisclosed benching is.Also, this is probably a dumb question and hope it isnt too far off topic as it partains to why we had no idea about this before the game... Do coaches in the NFL not have to specify who is starting when they turn in their rosters during pregame. Such as when they declare who is Active and Inactive. I have never wondered this before now...

Obviously it all worked out for us Foster owners. Except- on Ward's 1st or 2nd carry on the first drive, he exploded for 34 yards and a TD. And he didn't look bad the rest of the way either. So much so that I am a little surprised now that Tampa gave up on him in the preseason.

So my only concern now is that Kubiak is impressed enough that Ward will cut into Foster's carries in a way that Slaton never threatened to. Foster will still be the top dog, but perhaps the split will be more 70-30 than 85-15, as it has been the first 3 weeks.

I haven't seen the explanation from Kubiak and saw some reports of missing a team meeting or something like that but early this week there was a thread on here reporting rumors of a possible shoulder injury for Foster. If you start thinking along these lines and look at most of the plays called for Foster, they were mainly screen passes and runs to the outside. Even later in the game when it was still close Foster wasn't getting any of the inside runs. It's pure speculation on my part but I'm thinking there is a little something more to this then we are hearing!

What the hell are you talking about? Foster was in there running hard between the tackles to burn clock in the fourth. He ran between the tackles on 6 of Houston's last 8 plays to finish out the game.

This is a good point, Tim. And a 2:1 split might be in the future in the Houston backfield. However, while it could lessen Foster's production in October and November, it just might help Foster still have a little left for December. Foster is effectively a rookie in terms of being a workhorse NFL RB. He had 54 pro carries prior to this season. So he could easily hit a "rookie" wall just in time for FF playoffs. So, a "limited" Houston RBBC could have both negative and positive aspects. Especially if I'm a 4-0 Foster owner, I might like it if RBBC keeps Foster fresher for the FF playoffs. In this way, even a RBBC in Houston could have a good side.

I doubt it. Ward/Slaton got 1 or 2 carries in the 2nd half, and Foster got the rest of the carries

Could today's benching actually help Foster the rest of the season? He seemed to to run with an extra step in the second half like he was giving the finger to Kubiak.

I feel like he distanced himself even more from the pack. He took the punishment and then went out and exploded. Kubiak has full team support, they got the win, and going forward they have got to keep Foster rolling if they want to make the playoffs. Too easy for that OL to just run right over people who are expecting Schaub to throw on them at any moment. Foster looked possessed out there and he seriously has a little Priest Holmes in his game. He is very fluid and makes simple screens look painful for opposing defenses. He was lights out once he got in the game. That said I never want any of my starting RBs to have to shoulder more than about 20 carries or 20-22 touches a game otherwise they tend to breakdown. Chris Johnson for example to me is a guy that has been given the ball a little too much.

This #### cost me my game. Imagine if foster had played both halves. I wouldnt be getting the snot beat out of me and wouldnt be loathing the Terrell Owens points I left on my bench. Kubiac is a tool.

When will coaches learn they shouldn't discipline fantasy-relevant players?!

not :goodposting: If a RB drops 150 plus total yards and 2TDs nothing around his situation caused you to not win. If I had promised you that production this morning you would have been jumping up and down.

It's probably beneficial to Foster owners that this wasn't announced in advance, because some people might have benched him if they knew he was going to miss the first 20 minutes of the game.

And while I'm at it, just how clueless can CBS get? It took the announcers three series to clue into the fact that the NFL's leading rusher hadn't been in the game yet. Then when they finally figure it out and then it's halftime, they go back to the studio where the announcer giving the game highlights mentions Foster only has 5 yards so far and "hasn't been able to get it going today". Way to stay tuned into what's happening there, CBS.

:excited: Just imagine if these were Fox announcers

;) That's the part that amazed me. I still don't get it. These people are always looking for a story and running out of things to talk about and this story the entire network is oblivious.

Absolutely amazing.
