Arian Foster's injury status? (1 Viewer)

Silver & Black

Footballguy
I see that he practiced today, but is still listed as probable.

I'm a bit concerned about starting him with a sore knee, especially since Ward has looked pretty good in his limited carries. I would normally automatically plug Foster into my lineup but am pausing now and am considering starting Bradshaw over him against the Lions defense.

Any Texan homers have any insight on Foster's injury and/or whether there are any grumblings about him losing carrier to Ward because of the knee?

Thanks.

You are way overthinking this. Ward will come in when Foster needs a breather, or if Foster fumbles a bunch of times, that's it.This isn't the ACF so I don't know who you should start, but I wouldn't think twice about Foster being listed as probable.

He is fine physically and will not lose many touches to Ward. I agree that you are overthinking this and would caution you to not read too much into last week's NYG debacle. In fact, unless you have Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson, I don't know why you're not starting both Foster and Bradshaw this week.

As a Foster owner, why do I get the feeling that Steve Slaton (and not Ward) is going to be a critical pickup before the season's over? Am I way off base here?

Only if both Foster and Ward get hurt, and even then I don't see Slaton performing as he did his breakout rookie year and beyond. I've been a Slaton booster for a long time and I've defended him against his critics here, but from what I've seen this season he has lost something between the ears. He does not run with the same intensity and confidence that he once had. He is tentative and unsure of every step he takes. While it is certainly possible that he can right himself and reemerge as a viable ff candidate, I am skeptical. It pains me to say it, but Slaton should only be rostered in deep leagues that count ppr and return yardage. Ward is the handcuff to own, and after that you need to look at other depth charts.

Arian Foster (knee, probable) practiced in full all week.

He didn't miss a single practice rep and will start against the Chiefs

Im a huge Foster fan but Ward is starting to creep in a whole lot more than i suspected.

I know! How dare Kubiak give him that single carry last week!

Yeah a 1 yd TD

I read somewhere that Ward was in there when AJ caught a pass at the goalline...a close pass they didn't want to give time to challenge so they ran to the line and gave it to Ward.

I just don't know if I trust Houston anymore? Seems like something is wrong with Shaub and if they don't start passing better Foster is gonna suffer like last week.

Yea im a Giants fan i saw the game. Andre definitely made the catch but it was close enough that the Texans hurried to the line, made no changes and just quickly handed it to ward, and he scored vs a Giants D that wasn't ready or in place

Yeah and that 38 yard TD this week.

I am lucky enough to have Peterson too. Foster has been my guy and I was only hesitating on him because of the injury issue and how good Ward has looked when given the ball. RB's, great. My Wr's blow!

I bet Ward will see more touches as the season goes on... When they give him the ball he produces..
Nobody should be afraid of Ward. I could rush for 30 yards behind that o-line. Foster has way better vision, speed, and skill. Ward is a non-issue in Houston. Every feature running back in the league takes a breather and lets some back up get three (the number Ward recieved with one catch) or more carries a game.

Derrick Ward-RB- Texans Oct. 18 - 4:54 pm et

Texans coach Gary Kubiak indicated Monday that Derrick Ward has earned more of a role going forward.

"We need to play him more with Arian to keep (Foster) fresh," said Kubiak. Ward is averaging 8.68 yards per touch on 17 carries and two catches since being signed as a free agent just prior to the opener. We wouldn't bet on him nearing double-digit touches per game, but Ward is worth grabbing as a handcuff to Foster. Steve Slaton is completely off the radar.
