i know Pinner has been a joke since jvwdcdoah days, but i'm looking at the stats on NFL.com:

CAVEAT: i have not seen any Detroit preseason games. just stats.

he's playing in garbage time vs the local high school, so his stats are meaningless . . . Detroit insiders speculate that he will be cut or traded . . .

I haven't watched the games either, but my guess is that Pinner is "better than 3rd-string talent" and has been playing against 3rd-string guys. So his stats look okay. Put him in with the starters, and then maybe see what his numbers do. . .

Mlive reports Detroit Lions RB Artose Pinner is on the trading block. Pinner, the team's fourth-round draft pick in 2003, is good enough to be an every-down back but he's getting squeezed off Detroit's roster because they have RB Kevin Jones as the starter and RB Arlen Harris and rookie third-round pick RB Brian Calhoun in backup roles. NFL teams could wait for Pinner to be released in the final cut but that would give him very little time to learn their offense before the first regular season game. Also, if Pinner is released, he'd have to clear waivers first and a needy team might not want to risk him getting snatched away from them.

Good enough to be an every down back? Whoever reported that is just being silly.He's good enough to be on a roster, sure. But he's not a starter and I don't know what the Lions would get for him. A 5th-rounder maybe tops.

I recently heard rumers that the Jets might be interested in Artose Pinner. although the Jets probably wont now that they have traded for Barlow. That probably had something to do with the fact that Pinner didn't get any carries with the first team because the Lions wanted to pad his stats in hope of getting value in return for a trade.
