Ashley Madison hacked - Start hiding everything (1 Viewer)

Your secret is safe with us Hulk
Hulk, you should talk with Capella and see if you have a mutual friend.
This flew over my head.
I guess I don't get the gossip angle to it? Wow did you hear Peter was on that website trying to get some bush? How cra-zay!
Apparently you don't get a lot of things. First off, this isn't tinder. It's more than Peter trying to score some tang on the web. It's a site specifically for adulterers. That's quite a distinction in my eyes. And why is such a leap that people would want to know if the guy/girl in the cubicle next to them is ####### around on their spouse but it's not a leap for you to think that means 2Young2BBald wants someone fired? Or that the company would even fire an employee over this?
I knew a single guy who used the site to pick up horny women in relationships. You didn't have to be married to use it, I don't think you had to post a marriage certificate or something.
With 95% men the single guy you knew was likely picking up married dudes.
Iirc he got laid a few times. It was a while ago.

So, I fully expect my email will be in there.

I got to gmail when it was still in beta, and have a very common last name. My email is my first 2 initials and my last name. I've lost count of the number of times I have mistakenly gotten someone else's email. That is somewhat understandable. What isn't is when people register for stuff with my email. Stuff they really need. I get copies of people's cell phone bills, electric bills, bank statements, etc. Some of the craziest stuff I've had come into my inbox accidentally: divorce paperwork, sale of a law firm paperwork, wedding invitations, paternity test results, lesbian dating sites, etc.

Well, last May, some lady in the Atlanta area signed up for AshleyMadison with my email. And she uses it. And I get sent copies of messages sent to her and weekly updates. It has been amusing (guys on there clearly desperate imo). My wife, thankfully, is fully aware of this. We've laughed over some of the emails sent to this lady in the past. So that is no concern. I am somewhat worried that my email will be showing up on these lists though. What if a future employer runs a search on my email and finds that? It could have repercussions for me.
I've gotten somebody else's gmail too thanks to the guy having a nearly-identical username, but nothing anywhere near that interesting. :(
lol I have the same problem - I have an email address that is my first initial and last name @ gmail. However my last name is not that common (say like Smith). I get a lot of interesting emails including someone signed up at a bondage site as "SexyMilf48". They received about 200 messages within an hour of signing up.

Back when I was married and the wife decided teh secks wasn't an option anymore I was given permission to get some on the side as long as nobody we knew could find out about it. AshleyMadison was perfect for that as I decided to be upfront about my intentions and situation to try and minimize the risk of potential unwanted drama. It was obvious back then that there were a fair amount of fake profiles (this was 6 years or so ago), but I met up with several women IRL as well, so they were there. Interestingly enough most of the women I met weren't married (none of the ones I actually slept with were), although I think a few were in relationships. Not sure why the completely single ones were on that site instead of Match or PoF or something, as I never bothered to ask.

And of course I created an email address specifically for AM. It's hard to believe people would use their primary (let alone work) emails for that. Of course if they have credit card info as well (the card I used has been closed since) it's possible that someone could tie my id back to me, but can't say I'm too concerned about it.

Good work getting out in front of this with a cover story.
Lol.For real though. I may have to make a new email address to apply for my next job.
"And can you believe it, honey -- she has the same name and last four digits of her credit card number!"
You guys don't believe me... ridiculous. I figured that would happen. I'm not lying. Why would I, this is pretty much anonymous anyways.

I have heard Hulks common email story like 3-4 times. Man, I post here way too much...

Anyone who has CC information also has their real name and address tied to it. A fake email address is one thing for just browsing, but if you paid for something, it can be traced back.

True. In his case, his wife knew, and they aren't married anymore. So he doesn't have much to worry about unless he has a super high profile job where that would matter like a politician.

Hulk, why the alias? You are among friends here, big guy.

I bet my email is on there. I too got into gmail when it was in early beta and got a popular seinfeld meme @ gmail.com.

Getting angry doesn't make you look any less guilty.

This social justice warrior mentality is so out of hand. This isn't the best example, because yeah, these guys don't deserve much sympathy, but this whole deal with strangers inserting themselves in to other's business because "hey there is a wrong that I must to right!" when really it's "hey look at this trainwreck I'm gonna cause!" is ridiculous. It makes me wonder how empty their life is in the real world that they are willing to take the time to tear down others.

And no, I'm not on the list ;)

Well, this guy is giving out names of people from Kentucky on the list, one by one:

https://twitter.com/kentuckyamleak

I have to believe there will be a searchable address data base fairly soon.
So wrong.
I'm going to have to disagree with you here.
this dude is a Class A #####.

and

• I've never cheated,

• I dont condone cheating

• I've never used AM

• its none of mine or anyone else's business who's sticking their who-ha in who.

Where does he get off feeling he is the moral high ground and can systemically call people out for this in a very public way. This issue is between the married couple and no one else.

Really, in today's internet, F@ck me now society, if it wasn't AM, do you really believe a resource like this would not exist??? People have been cheating on their spouses for years....now its just a little different....just like dating...and one night stands. Its not right, but AM did not invent cheating.

I'm sure its a very small percentage, but as someone posted above, his wife was ok with it—AS LONG AS IT WAS KEPT LOW. Now this ##### bag feels he's entitled to blast this out over social media and risk ruining this couples relationships.

Everyone with a GD twitter account and an axe to grind feels they are entitled to wield it from an anonymous username and let the wake drift where it may.

F this guy

I think it's so gratuitously cruel. The guy behind the Kentucky Twitter account has no idea who those people are or what this is doing to their lives right now. It's just an anonymous laugh for him, but I can't imagine what is happening to those people right now who have been publicly shamed - or to their kids.

Not a fan of the Kentucky tweeter. Many of the accounts he outed have already cancelled their profiles. One guy claimed to be hacked, but I have no clue what that would accomplish.

I checked. 2 of my emails on the list. Lol. One that I haven't used in years was on there but not validated by them. And then my main email, on there and considered valid. That's probably because my wife and I logged in to the account for lols. I certainly never verified my email though... Not sure what their standard is. Maybe a credit card is associated with the account (not mine though!). I didn't dig deeper.

Right now I'm really happy I brought this up to her months ago, before the breach. If I hadn't, I'd probably be in a pickle undeservedly. I'm lucky really, cause I could easily have just marked it as spam and moved on. It just so happened that the week that lady in Atlanta created that account, some lesbian in Tennessee created an account for pinkcupid. Because both happened within a few days of each other, I mentioned it where I otherwise might not have.

I'm near certain that this will end up causing a few divorces where the guy was completely innocent and ignorant of it. That sucks for them IMO

The guy tweeting is a ######## AND I feel no sympathy for the #######s who get outed.

If my spouse was on the list and I found out from the guy tweeting I'd send him a thank you card at least.

What if your spouse is in the list cause someone other than her used her email?

gawker reporting Josh Duggar had an account. I'm skeptical.
I know consenting chicks that are of age to give the consent aren't really in his wheelhouse, but it's not especially surprising either.

I haven't seen a non-basketball thread with this many capella posts since like 2008.
11 posts is a lot?

I think the aspect of being that curious about people getting their rocks off and wanting to water cooler it or whatever at work is pretty ####ty. I also think the "everybody on that site is a cheater" angle is especially dumb, but whatever.

I never paid to use or met anybody off that site if that's what you're bothering to imply.

Some good schtick would be to have a kentucky lawyer twitter account and reply to all the tweets advertising your services.

187,000 clients in the Houston market. Most of those in the suburbs. I wonder how many of my friends are hiding #### right about now?

Per Wiki Houston has a population of 2.2 M (~75% adult) - we are really supposed to believe that somewhere around 10% of the adult population is signed up? Not sure I buy that.
