Should I trade Volquez and Sherrill for Cain and Mariano? I'm a little worried Sherrill gets traded to a setup role, and I'm not convinced that the drop from Volquez to Cain is all that great. Thoughts?

In a 10 team, 7x7 H2H league, I have a glut of very good OF's. We only need to start 3 plus a Util spot that can be filled with anyone. I'm in 3rd and my offense has been carrying me huge. I'd like to upgrade my pitching as I have been streaming starts for a while now. Here is my roster: Holliday (LF), Soriano LF/DL), Hamilton (CF/RF), Markakis (RF), Hart (CF/RF), Victorino (CF/RF) & Drew (RF). McCann, Tex, Phillips, Miggy, S Drew. Rosters are pretty deep so there isn't much on the WW.Which guy(s) would you trade? What pitcher(s) would you be expecting back?

Ok it depends if you are a ballsy owner and likes to go for the superstar trades or for the "safer" exchanges.If you were ballsy, since you only got three OF spots and one utility, you can afford to trade Joshie with Holliday and soon Sory still in that OF. Joshie has the most trade value of the three and can be traded for ANY pitcher your heart desires basically. Try throwing in Victorino too to get a Tier B type pitcher as well. Hamilton is such a sexy story that its really hard to gauge his value, someone might think he is #3 overall in all of baseball someone else might have him at #30, so try swinging him around to get maximum valueYou could give hamilton and Victorino for lets say Peavy and Duscherer or someone like that If you dont wanna lose the steady production of Hamilton you could afford to lose Markakis and get back a solid starter like maybe even Dice K

I reasonably new to FB, so I'm having a little trouble equating pitchers with hitters. Pitchers seem so erratic, win a few, lose a few plus they are prone to injury easier it seems. I just want to make sure I get as close to a lock as possible back. Do you think that Hamilton comes back to earth a little in the second half? With Kinlser and Young setting the table, it seems hard to believe he won't get the opps. Which OF's would you keep? I've already been turned down on Markakis for Haren and Markakis for Kazmir. Was I aiming a little high there?

Tough call here, Mariano is light years ahead of Sherril, plus Sherrill has been getting SHELLED lately and could be traded to some 8th inning role, doubt any team would want him as closer, and Baltimore isnt going anywhere, so a trade is inevitableBut i am not sure how well Cain will pitch in second half, he has regressed from his great numbers last year besides in the K department and is inconsistent so far with few wins coming his way, but an ERA under 4 for the second half with an OK whip is really possibleIf you can afford to lose a few "W" than do it because Cain will have very similar ERA and WHIP #s to Volquez IMO and Mariano will have loads of saves coming his way

Liriano is starting to heat up in AAA but Danks has been so damn consistent that he has made me into a believer, so i go with Danks, who has started to pick up his K's the last couple starts

Thoughts on Barry Bonds?

My league has OPS, I'm in first by about 18 points, and tomorrow morning I'll have an open roster slot. I could either pick up Grudzielanek or Ty Wigginton and have them platoon with Mark Ellis at MI when Ellis is at home since he blows at home and is fantastic on the road.

Or I can pick up Bonds and potentially have an OPS monster. I'm starting to think a team is going to get desperate and just go for it. Is he worth a flyer at ths point, especially considering that I've got some room to sit an N/A for the next few weeks?

I dont see any team signing him again, if there was a team that desperate they would have done so already. He cant field so thats half the teams eliminated and the Rays and M's were the only possible places and thats not happening anymoreWiggington still got some pop, so he is worth a platoon with Ellis who is a streaky hitter

I had been waiting on Furcal to get healthy again and currently have Kelly Johnson, Ryan Theriot, and Jeff Kent manning the 2B, SS, and MI positions but don't really have any depth behind them for missed time, days off, or if any of them get injured. Did pick up Baker from COL recently but don't know if he can maintain a good level of production. It seems like most positions you can find someone adequate to fill in for a little while except for middle infield. Standard 5x5 roto (OBP instead of AVE) with 11 teams and fairly deep rosters.

MI this year is really like going to the prom without a date, once its to late to get a solid one you are left with the absolute crap.It was top heavy in the draft and to fill in MI can be hell, but i like Aviles for second half, but if you had to pick up Baker (who i dont think will be too productive second half) i doubt he is availableI have been using Durham in one of my deep leagues where Tulo is out again, he has been pretty solid and though he has lost power he still is batting near .300 so he can be a good fill inIf you got DL spots try picking up Furcal if he is available ( he is in majority of leagues) he can be back in September (he is in a contract year, my gut says he wants to play again before it ends) and really save your MIAlso take a chance on Nomar if he is a FA over Baker

He did pretty well over the weekend for me and was batting cleanup yesterday so that should at least give him some good run and RBI possibilities. Durham would have been a possibility (Aviles was gone weeks ago) but I went with Nomar.Had to drop Furcal as I only have two DL spots and had Furcal, Big Papi, Wainright, Putz, and now Bedard on the DL and can't afford to stash him without using up a valuable roster spot. I need to have open roster spots as Bradley is dinged, Tavares is dinged, and I have a couple of guys whose splits are pretty pronounced like Jack Cust. Could pick him up in the future if a DL spot is freed up but in the meantime I can't afford to stash him with all of my injuries to valuable players.

Yeah you got to cut Furcal if you are babysitting Papi and CO.Nomar wont hit for Power like he used to but you got to believe he wont kill your BA and will get more RBI's than Baker, so good move there

I got a manager to bite on Beckett for Markakis, so part of the glut is gone. Personally I think Beckett is better than Dice K, so I like this deal much more anyway. I've been offered Peavy for Drew, Victorino and Maine. What do you think of that?

Yeah that is the gist of it. I have Cano as the only guy left on my bench if this goes through. I turned Figgins, Guillen and some others into Holliday and Hart early, so I figured my offense was set if everyone did what they were supposed to. I just needed trading partners and nobody was biting. My guys (esp my RF's) kept going strong and now I'm finally getting some bites. The Peavy deal isn't on the table yet, they guy just e-mailed me asking. Do you think it is a fair deal as is? His roster is below--he's obviously very strong in the pitching department and punting saves. Regardless, if he changes his mind, what do you think I need to add to get Peavy? The only other pitcher I have that would be of interest is Felix who I am reluctant to part with if I am just swapping him for Maine. Just saw that this morning. With a 38 year old guy with a solid understudy I seriously doubt he regains the role immediately if he gets back in time unless Broxton struggles. So much for making up ground in saves in the second half. He'd gotten a lot more chances in the last couple of weeks making it more painful. I now need Fuentes to get traded as I picked up Corpas recently and I need Putz to get healthy and regain the closer's role (not that he'll get many opportunities there if he does). Stuck with only current source of saves being Rauch and Dotel/Linebrink (until Jenks is back). Was way down in saves anyhow with only realistic chance of catching one or two guys. Most anyone with a chance of sniffing at a save or two is taken right now with the trade rumors flying around some guys.

Ok it depends if you are a ballsy owner and likes to go for the superstar trades or for the "safer" exchanges.If you were ballsy, since you only got three OF spots and one utility, you can afford to trade Joshie with Holliday and soon Sory still in that OF. Joshie has the most trade value of the three and can be traded for ANY pitcher your heart desires basically. Try throwing in Victorino too to get a Tier B type pitcher as well. No, Hart is waaay more valuable than VictorinoIf the current Peavy deal doesnt go down, try offering Hart and maine for Peavy, thats not a bad deal either, but i would prefer the first one you mentioned.He doesnt really need Drew AND Victorino, dont know where he will play them, but who knows, if he wants that deal run with it

Who are some middle infielders you see as being sleepers whom could help a team in the second half? I had been waiting on Furcal to get healthy again and currently have Kelly Johnson, Ryan Theriot, and Jeff Kent manning the 2B, SS, and MI positions but don't really have any depth behind them for missed time, days off, or if any of them get injured. Did pick up Baker from COL recently but don't know if he can maintain a good level of production. It seems like most positions you can find someone adequate to fill in for a little while except for middle infield. Standard 5x5 roto (OBP instead of AVE) with 11 teams and fairly deep rosters.

Jenks should be back soon so thats a hit for you, Putz should and probably will be closing again within a few weeks.Corpas still will have to fight off Bucholtz even after Fuentes deal, but i hink he will close down stretch.Dont see you climbing the saves at all with this crop of relievers, try getting a Mike Gonzalez or Todd Jones on the cheap

Maybe he was going after steals, he doesn't really have any after Suzuki who hasn't swiped one in forever. I'm trying hard to sell Drew because I feel his opps will go down when Papi gets back assuming good health plus I like the 5 cat appeal of Hart better.

Agree with you 100%Hart offers much much more than Drew, and if/when pappi is back Drew wont be putting up these numbers.Try to trade JD Drew now, this is the absolute Highest point he has been in years

Sorry i didnt see your post earlier, but if you made this trade now, that is a great great trade.davis has the potential to be as good as Howard or a better averaged Dunn one day, BUT this season he isnt so valuable as Blalock is back and the manager Washington has said its Hanks job now.Bourne is utter crap even if you need steals as he is a BA killer and will likely lose leadoff spot to Kaz. Loney is a great second half player, and Bedard when he gets back on mound is still solid even though everyone is relly down on him. If Bedard gets traded to a contending team he will be gold trust me

In his best season in 2006 not too long ago, he went .335 with 12 homers and an OPS of .920!!! after the break.Dont expect those same numbers again but as an every day player now, looks like Mathews is on the bench for now, he could come close to those power numbers but his career BA is .288 so expect around that number for the second half.As a real cheap OF option he is well worth the shot in deep leagues.Will he put up monster numbers probably not, but its possible

honest opinion is you lost this deal IMOhanley is arguably the #1 player in fantasy now, BUT Grady is a top 10 player as well and the difference between Mourneau and Bradley is larger than you think.But putting your needs in play here, i think you did fine and will be a stronger team because keppinger was not producing a lick and CI is much easier to find production from your wire.Not so high on Zim but your trade is basically Morneau, Sizemore, Keppinger for Hanley, Bradley and Zimmerman.Though you should have tried to get a more proven bat than Bradley someone like a Maglio or Markakis would have been better IMO

No, Zimmerman can be real productive if he is fully healthy.Tracy is ok but no great upside, Zimmerman has potential to be great but he was overhyped and will never be the player they thought he would be. guy batted in the .260's last year will likely be there again, has decent pop but nothing special from a power position.I would stick with Zimmerman for the time being over Tracy

First start wasnt too bad.As a FA pickup he can be pretty usefull down the stretch.Cards can win some games for him and i dont think he will be anything worse than average.He's a no risk really, grab him if he is still available

Was a supporter of his but i could him lose a few starts back, just too damn inconsistent.That game against the mets a few starts back sums him up best: Strikes out first 5 batters of game looks incredible, gives up 6 runs in the next couple of innings.Cueto will be a good player down the road but as of now for non keeper leagues he should be streamed at best

16 team league standard 5x5 league. Getting ready to pick keepers for next year. I am dead set on two players, Ryan Braun and Scott Kazmir. I am stuck in choosing between Ervin Santana or Manny Ramirez. If you had to choose between the two, who would you go with? I am leaning towards Ervin Santana because hes younger, but Manny is killing the ball in Los Angeles and if he stays in the NL he can have a monster year next year, since keepers are chosen on year to year basis, I might want to stick with Manny. Your thoughts?
