I just think it's funny no one is addressing the original question and post. There are already two Trump threads.

I happen to agree with what Romney said in 2012, and Trump doesn't seem to be taking it any more seriously than Obama did then. Aside from outright apparently admiring the man, Trump's theory seems to be complimenting Putin, becoming his friend and then cutting some imagined deal with him is the solution. That seems more fairy-tale than outright ignoring the problem, which is where we are right now.

It's pretty obvious that Trump supporters aren't a homogenous group with all the same characteristics. But based on the anecdotal evidence that I've seen, the descriptive term that I'd use to describe a material portion of them isn't any of the above. The term I'd use is unsophisticated.

Trump supporters don't care about any particular story of his which has been proven false, like thousands of Muslims in NJ cheering the twin towers falling. No reason to believe this would be treated any differently.

This is Trump saying he met Putin. He doesn't really say exactly that. He says they were 'stablemates' (weird enough way to put it) during the 60 Minutes taping, then he lets everyone go on on the premise that he did in fact meet him.

He says, "I got to know him very well."

He just totally makes stuff up.

I am voting for anyone over hillary. I'm not really a Trump supporter but the attraction with him vs the other R's is they all get sucked into the system and all are bought by PAC's. Trump doesn't play by those rules. People are sick of Obama poo-pooing real issues like ISIS and no real plan for anything. Both sides are clueless on issues and cannot work to solve things.

I'm not saying Obama supporters are switching to Trump. I'm saying true conservatives have had little say for a while now. Even though Trump isn't a conservative, he does represent how many feel.

Do you have confidence in Jeb, Christy, Cruz, or any other to get things done? I don't.

Democrats and Republicans alike had better be careful what they wish for with this guy. The GOP was outright campaigning for Obama in 2008, including highlights like Rush Limbaugh. The line was Obama was a super-liberal, he was born on Mt. Kilamanjaro and raised by wolves, radical preacher, funny name, etc. He'll never win. Look what happened. And Republicans who support him should be careful because they have no idea what he will do if elected. He could get a Democratic Senate and negotiate on expanding the ACA/Obamacare, he could appoint his sister or Lawrence Tribe as a SC justice, he could sell Guantanamo Bay to Cuba, he could withdraw from Nato, we have no idea what he is really about. Same guy contributed to the Clintons, has been friends with them, and the guy called Bill Clinton on advice as to whether he should run. And he has admitted to basically contributing to candidates to essentially buy access and bribe them. But he's totally not political, ok.
