I'm heading to Atlanta on Wednesday for a few days of meetings in Alpharetta. Can any locals help me out regarding the highway collapse and how much (if any) that will affect my drive from the airport out to Alpharetta and my return trip to the airport on Friday.

I'm heading to Atlanta on Wednesday for a few days of meetings in Alpharetta. Can any locals help me out regarding the highway collapse and how much (if any) that will affect my drive from the airport out to Alpharetta and my return trip to the airport on Friday.

From the airport it won't be difficult to avoid the area of town affected by the collapse, but your distance is going to be longer than normal. Before, you would take 85N to GA-400 to get to Alpharetta. Now, Waze will probably direct you 285 from the airport (or maybe 85 to 75 if it's not rush hour) and ultimately 285 to 400. And definitely use Waze because traffic at any given time will make one route a lot quicker than another.

You can also take MARTA from the airport up to North Springs and then use cabs or ride-sharing to get around in Alpharetta.
