Attack on London bridge, reports people run down, stabbed and shots fired (1 Viewer)

"In order to protect our freedoms, we must do away with our freedoms" seems to be the standard tactic deployed by just about every world-wide conservative government. Because, somehow, blocking pornography in the UK will help eliminate terrorist safe spaces.
They already did that, obviously it didn't work. Could it have made it worse?

I will say this - I really don't understand the need for CNN's current headline:

London police fired 50 rounds to kill 3 attackers

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?
It's probably a large percenage of all shots fired by armed police in the UK this year

Sounds great. How should we start tracking and profiling these guys?   Anyone here speaking out against their own kind???

I'm all for it.  If you're planning on murdering or committing terrorist acts you should be tracked and profiled.  I'll take the facts of the article at face value even though this is what I found about it which would explain for some pretty slanted parts in the commentary:

ATTN: describes its content as issue-driven. Their videos focus primarily on subjects like social justice, the environment, politics, health, criminal justice reform, immigration and drug policy

Sounds great.  Starting today, we perform 24x7 video recording of every entrance to every place of worship in the country.  Of course, people could wear hoodies or sunglasses.  To be safe, we should really check ID at the doors.  That way, we can keep an accurate list of every attendee of every church.

Given some time, though, people might start holding group worship at private homes.  That would foil the plan.  Might as well just nip that in the bud and microchip everyone with a government issued GPS tracker.
He already responded to a similar post. Go back and read it.

ETA- then yet another guy repeats the same thing. Do you guys just stop reading halfway through the thread before you post?

Read the entire thread and then go back if you have questions people.

No one has yet responded to the question of how they intend to track which people have attended which mosques.  Feel free to answer, though.

Given they are taught how to shoot by Imperial Stormtroopers, they are probably bragging about the high accuracy rate.

John Oliver's take down of US coverage of the London attacks is epic.

Some of the "oooh Europe scary" fraidy cats should watch it

What I find funny about this list is that in REAL life we have a commander in chief who:

- fired the head of the nation's lead counter-terror force,

- and hasn't bothered to replace him, and

- cut back on funding to US police, and

- called our intelligence community who seeks out terrorists as part of their job description 'Nazis', and

- has threatened to repeal the sec. 702 FISA authority whereby our anti-terror forces seek to listen in on actual, real life terrorists before they act.
Neither Munny or Oadi replied to this.  You don't say. ;)

Why should I talk about Trump in a London incident thread?

I think there are several threads here to discuss the hysterical Trump hatred and Russiaphobia run amok here. ...
I'd propose we not talk politics at all in this thread, however you did bring up the 'liberal plan' in response to terrorism. I'd propose if you go there you be real about what the actual commander in chief has actually done.

London attack: Spanish 'skateboard hero' Echeverría missing

A Madrid man is missing in London after he used his skateboard against one of the jihadists, who was stabbing a woman, Spanish media report.

Ignacio Echeverría, 39, saw the attack unfolding at London Bridge on Saturday night, and rushed to help the woman.

Friends with him at the time told his family what had happened.

Reports say Mr Echeverría is not listed among the dead. His sister has gone to London hospitals, but there is no news of him being among the injured.

...

Reports say Ignacio Echeverría came upon the scene at London Bridge while cycling back from a park with two friends, with whom he had been skateboarding.

In a Facebook post, his father said "They saw him lying on the floor on the sidewalk after defending someone with his skateboard".

Apparently Ignacio did not have ID on him at the time. The Spanish embassy and HSBC Bank, his employer in London, are helping to search for him.

BOUNCER'S BRAVE CHARGE

Doorman ‘saved countless lives’ by pelting jihadis with bottles, glasses and bar stools and driving them into gun cops’ sights

A 28-year-old doorman known as Ozzy led a brave charge against the maniacs after seeing them  repeatedly knifing a woman

A HERO bouncer saved countless lives by hurling bar stools, bottles and glasses at the London Bridge terrorists — driving them towards the police marksmen’s guns.

The 33-year-old doorman known as Ozzy led a brave charge against the maniacs, despite fearing they had suicide bomb vests, after seeing them repeatedly knifing a woman outside the Wheatsheaf pub in Borough Market.

The dad of one, from Earl’s Court, West London, said: “I heard a serious amount of screaming and commotion coming from the street.

“Me and a few of the doormen went to see what had happened. We saw three guys in camouflage trousers stabbing this woman.

“They were all surrounding her and knifing her repeatedly . . . about ten times. They suddenly looked up and started running towards other individuals.”

Ozzy, understood to be a Pentecostal Christian, initially fled before doubling back.

He told a friend: “I realised I had to do something. If I hadn’t turned back there were so many people caught up in the panic there would have been more hurt.

“Me and another guy started launching bar stools, bottles and glasses at them to try and disrupt them.

“It was completely chaotic, like a war zone.

“They ran through the barrage and we deflected them and they literally ran straight into the cops, who shot them.” The madmen were cut down by 50 bullets. Ozzy’s courage was seen in a chaotic video as the terror gang were taken out. He can be heard telling the public they are safe.

He says: “Be careful, I don’t know if he’s got a bomb. We managed to stop some terrorists.”

...

She added family members last night told Ozzy's son: "Your dad's a hero."

"His son is only seven, so they didn't want to tell him too much about what happened," she said.

"His mum told him 'your dad's a hero, he saved people's lives last night'. The kid didn't really understand, he just said: 'My dad's always a hero'."

The bouncer’s friend told The Sun today: “Ozzy’s an absolute hero — he deserves a medal.”

The doorman was one of many whose bravery and quick-thinking prevented even greater slaughter during the terror attack on Saturday night.

A young woman helped 20 people escape from a restaurant by barricading the doors to stop the gang getting in.

Witness Aksha Patel, a taxi driver, said the woman enabled them to flee from the rear of the Black & Blue restaurant by standing as a “barrier” between them and the terrorists.

Staff at the Cafe Brood near Borough Market also ushered dozens of diners inside to safety as the gang ran down steps leading from London Bridge after mowing down pedestrians in their rented van.

The attackers then ran off down the road.

Meanwhile, Romanian Florin Morariu claimed he battered one terrorist with a basket.

He shared a video of himself running through Borough Market afterwards — and a bloodied victim being led  away.

Speaking to the camera in English and Romanian, Mr Morariu is heard describing how  he tried to stop the attack, saying: “I hit one of them in the head with a basket and I knocked him out.”

He then confirms three attackers were involved and adds: “Oh my God, it is a terrorist attack here.

“The terrorists cut the people on the streets.”

Gerard Vowls attempted to distract the killers in a bid to save lives by shouting at them: “Oi, oi, cowards.”

Gerard, who also threw bottles at them, said: “They were stabbing everyone. Evil, evil people. I thought that if I could get them to chase me I could get them to the main road to where the armed police were.”

Londoner Gerard, 47, said he led cops to the killers after seeing them go the wrong way.

He added: “They ran with me to find them. I  heard three gunshots then I saw the men lying on the floor.”

Richard Angell, meanwhile, hailed a fellow diner at the Arabica Bar & Kitchen in Southwark who saw off one attacker with a volley of chairs.

Richard who vowed to return to pay his bill, said: “We can’t let these people win.”

As in Portland, though obviously not wholly analogous, I am heartened to see yet again examples of selfless behavior, of persons coming to the aid of the helpless at great personal peril.  The Terrorists attacked, but London won.  London was not cowed, they rose up.  Good for the Brits which included, apparently, melting pot heroes, sons and grandsons from other nations who have adopted England as their home, permanently or temporarily.  the Terrorists proved themselves cowards, the Brits stalwarts.  The terrorists planned, they attacked with vehicles and knifes, the Brits and their good visitors beat the planned attack back with skateboards and bread baskets.  That is a decisive rebuke.

I propose a flag to commemorate this day.  It should be a field of black, in remembrance, festooned with a skateboard, a bar stool, and a bread basket.

They need more money to keep a closer eye on the people that are known to them.
Ok & how many people connected to them. The 3 attackers led to a raid on 21 people, including gunfire and controlled explosions. Now calculate how many people the U.K. has under surveillance, multiply by 7, add violence, then subtract the 20,000 police May took off the streets.

I'm not sure we're even disagreeing at this point. I watched the video. That's a small protest by the look of it. The crew wanted footage and had several of them to stand together with the signs showing. The story doesn't dispute there was a march right?
Maybe a misdameanor of an infraction but not one that should go ignored and does make you wonder about the fake news stuff.  ENG is about going to the news, you don't bring the news to the camera, the camera goes to the news.  Its a very slippery slope

It's a journalism issue, and I agree it's inappropriate, but there was a march. The drive is to suggest CNN created the whole thing.

I forget the exact number but Britain has something like 4,000 people of interest under surveillance. I posted something about it in the Manchester bombing thread. They, just like us, have a tough task but given all that has happened over the last month in Britain I believe I'd take the gloves off about now. I heard this morning that the 12 they arrested in conjunction with this attack have all been released. I guess nobody knows nothing about nothing

The man MI5 didn't think was dangerous: Killer worked at Westminster Tube and had access to tunnels under Parliament - DESPITE being known to police AND MI5 AND featuring in jihadi TV documentary

Side note, I'm a sports fan like most all of us and I can't help but think we aren't far away from something like this happening on our soil. What happens when the Manchester bomber hits the button here?

With London and Paris being the current hotbed for these things I would stay out of the Chunnel if I went to either.  That seems a ready made trap.  Of course I am sure it has state of the art security, but underground, underwater, it just seems vulnerable.

**** you, I'm Millwall!

God bless football hooligans.
HELL YES!  knowing there was push back, and heroic folk out there standing up

i posted a link earlier of a similar punter who said he was tossing anything he could get his hands on ... bless these guys!

There is a video of CCTV out there now showing them get shot.  They are stabbing an innocent person when the police show up and then chasing the officers with knives. CNN likes to suggest police are some brutal, blood thirsty gang because that gets more clicks.
