Just heard they got rid of Kari. :( :kicksrock:

Also Grant & Troy.
Countdown to cancelation begun...
:goodposting:

The show was already pretty much ruined for me when I found out

that Jamie & Adam hate each other
say what?
I read an article in the SLPD when they were in town last year for a live show on how much they can't stand each other. They've never once hung out on a personal level.

Every episode this season is tied for first as the worst episode ever with the exception of the Indiana Jones "myth".

It's like they've completely given up. "Today we're going to test the myth of can I throw this apple core in the wastebasket across the room!"

Agreed. I knew this show was basically dead when they got rid of Tory, Grant, Kari "The Best Thing that Ever Happened to Mythbusters" Byron.

I watch old episodes on re-run just to watch Kari. Really.

There is just nothing left to test that I find interesting, and now nobody I find interesting enough to look at to overlook that first statement.

I'm starting to try some of these fringe Mythbuster type shows...they're more "build it" type shows, and don't focus on myths. Sometimes viral videos though. Got me thinking of some of the ones that they've had over the years. What Could Go Wrong was the one I watched last night.

Smash Lab - Good concept, awful execution. Show was soooo drawn out.

Rocket City Rednecks - I think it's cancelled now, but it was really good. Was a staple show for me for a while.

What Could Go Wrong - I watched my 1st episode last night. I liked it...then fell asleep. Don't know if that's a factor of a boring show or me being a little under the weather.

I think there were a few others that were far shorter lived.

At the height of Mythbustes fame, there were 3 shows that tried to take an element of Mythbusters and turn it into a show. One of them was Smash Lab which you mentioned, where it was mainly blowing crap up and smashing cars. The other 2 were Prototype This! which concentrated on the building wacky machines and Time Warp which was all high speed video stuff.

I found What could go wrong to be boring. They tried to not be boring by machine gunning builds at us, showing little of the actual building. Felt very ADHD.

I remember those two...Time Warp was cool for an episode or two. Then it got old. I don't specifically recall Prototype This!, but I remember the concept now...I wonder why this has been such a hard genre to replicate with success?

In addition there was "Unchained Reaction" which was hosted by Adam & Jamie and teams in a Junkyard Wars fashion made elaborate rube goldberg devices. Failed largely I think because the devices just didn't translate well on TV. Instead of having it being a basic chain like the famous honda commercial, the OKGo video or even the Mythbusters Xmas special. It was, the device starts then 90 things happen at once and it's over in 15 seconds and nothing actually achieved.

They also had the Dangerous Toys pilot which I thought had a lot of potential. Basically supersizing kids games. In the special, Adam made a giant sofa cushion fort, made out of like 50 actual sofas, and jamie created stuff to tear down the fort.

That one was great

Same here.
Until this season there wasn't a single episode where I thought "well that kind of sucked".

An episode on drifting? Really? OMG I'm running late for a meeting, if I spin out on every turn I could get there 5 seconds earlier! Oh I only wish I knew if that would help!!! I wonder if it is harder to do something carrying 20 pounds or carrying 250 pounds? Oh science why have you forsaken me!!!!!!

I'm not sure I understand your point here, GB. The show isn't designed to help you. It's designed to settle arguments of what's real and what's a myth. I can tell you for sure that I've heard the drifting argument hundreds of times. And I was actually surprised by the results.

Yeah, the show is really more about settling bar arguments that involve physics, engineering and the like.

I liked Time Warp, but I was partial since I went to school (elementary thru HS) with one of the guys (Matt Kearney - the one in the yellow shirt in this video) he was always a nut in school, and that comes out in the show.

Obviously, they just needed a Kari. Simple Solution!!!

I liked that show. To this day, I can still remember how cool I thought the water balloons popping on their faces looked.

Yup. But the whole time I was watching I kept thinking, "One of them is going to die."
I never saw this one...need to find that on demand somewhere...
