He had 2 catches for 25 yards on the game winning drive - That wasn't garbage time, that was the game winning drive - Can't believe this isn't being talked about... Outside of the obvious head injuries, we know he has talent, a lot more then ####### Julian Edelman...

Amendola looked like he might have been killed last week so I expect he sits this week.

BOLD PREDICTION:

So far under the radar and nobody has said a word about Collie lately - He leads the Pats in receptions this week and is a target monster. PPR 15 points easy.

This prediction assumes no Gronk against the Jets.

Yeah, quite the preemptive pickup by the Pats.

Dobson also was pretty involved throughout the game, not just at the end.

And then maybe Gronk comes back.

Just dont see it with Edelman healthy (who's been in the offense and alongside Brady for years).

Collie may see a bump in snaps (only saw 9 Week 6), but I also see Edelman seeing bump in offensive snaps (41 in Week 6). Edelman was playing mid 60's snaps while Amendola was out previously -- no reason to see that changing as Amendola sits this time around.

For reference, Aaron Dobson played 79 offensive snaps (Thompkins 58 & Amendola 49) in Week 6.

Collie is a nice story, but difficult to see him having significant value while Edelman is healthy.

Earning Brady's trust is a surefire way to see more snaps and targets, & there is no better way to earn that trust then hauling in both of your targets on the game winning drive with under 2:00 to play.

I'm not saying pick him up and plug him in your lineup... Personally I have Marshall, Dez, & Blackmon starting, there is nowhere in my lineup for him - I am however saying it would be smart to pick him up now before he has a good game and you have to use a lot of $$$ on him or a WW priority.

It's amazing that 10 days after the Pats signed him, Brady trusted him to catch on a must make 4th down. He won't trust Dobson that much, who had a 4th down ball hit him in the worst place; his hands, and he dropped it.

If Amendola is hurt, there is no reason that this guy shouldn't take his spot in the next couple weeks. He's clearly a better talent than Edelman, Boyce and Dobson. Costs nothing to grab him now, so why not?

It's not like it's unheard of for mid-season NFL FA WRs to become fantasy relevant. Happened just last year with Danario. Certainly if you are looking at a thin wire you could do a lot worse than Collie as bottom-of-bench WR. I wish someone in my league hadn't picked him up the second he was signed.

Yea, I grabbed him preemptively, but at this point most of my bench WRs are holds (Harvin/Roddy/Collie).

I am pretty interested in him, as I've almost successfully played Patriots WRBC this year (Amendola week 1, Edelman from WW before Amendola came back, traded Edelman when Amendola came back, but played Amendola the game he got KOed).

I think he has a shot, especially with no DA (or Gronk) and the experience over Edelman/the rookies.

That being said, I don't think he's a start this week, but definitely worth a look if you've got the room/depth

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Pick him up now for free rather than wait for him to show something.

As far as his concussion problems, yes, that is a serious issue for himself and the Patriots, but not for fantasy owners looking to replace the last guy on their roster. Worth a flyer if you have the room. Would rather take a chance at him then some other WR that gets a consistent 4-5 points a game.

Austin collie can do all 3. Its his health holding him back. But as long as he is on the pats and brady slinging the rock he will be on my roster

it seems as if the niners werent convinced he was fully healed from his ruptured right patella tendon. the original time frame was fully healed by October. His last concussion was in December 2010, almost 3 years ago. here is a timeline of his offseason:

Free agent Austin Collie (knee) acknowledges that he likely won't be 100 percent until October.
Collie ruptured his right patella tendon late last September. He's "optimistic" about being ready for training camp, but might not be ready to contribute right off the bat. Collie also has a long history of concussions. After interviewing Collie, SI's Don Banks suggests he'll be open to a one-year, prove-it deal.

The Patriots recently worked out free agent WR Austin Collie.
As usual, the Pats are willing to kick the tires on any free agent available. Collie is coming off a ruptured right patella tendon and has a frighteningly long concussion history, but wants back in the NFL. He's admitted that he won't be 100 percent until October. The Patriots currently have Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman at slot receiver, making a signing right now unlikely.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Austin Collie isn't in the 49ers' plans.
Collie isn't going to make the team. Coach Jim Harbaugh recently indicated that Collie wasn't fully recovered from last season's torn patellar tendon. The 27-year-old is no higher than sixth on the depth chart, and he didn't appear in Sunday night's dress rehearsal until late in the third quarter. Collie played 14 snaps and caught one pass for eight yards. He needs more time to get healthy.

sorry to keep bumping this thread, but Edelman was questionable (not that it means much with BB) with a hammy issue. if for some odd reason that he cant go, i might stick him in the lineup.

The two or three games I've seen, the Jets DL was excellent. Their pass D looked so overrated and the savvy type WRs didn't seem to have any trouble, just that their team didn't go to them. If I were an OC, I would just do the token runs against that DL and would pass a ton.

Collie though joins a mix where everyone plays and Brady goes with the hot hand. You're banking on him being the hot hand if you start him. It could be Amendola, Edelman, a rook, or Gronk now.

This is a very difficult team for FF with so many WRs playing. I've been hopeful Gronk's presence somehow puts the Pats back to a more traditional offense, but I don't think it happens. I imagine BB loving making Ds prepare for every WR. Dobson is very different from Collie. Depending on what the DB does well and doesn't do well, it's just too easy to imagine BB switching up here.

The injury-prone wideout tweaked his knee in Sunday's win, but it's unclear if that's why he's been cut loose. Collie caught just three passes in four games as a Pat, and has only four grabs since the end of the 2011 season. The vast majority of Collie's once prodigious upside has vanished.
