Who would have thought that Austin Collie would be the #1 wr in fantasy football three weeks into the season? When you conisder all the options that the Colts have I would have never guessed that Collie would emerge the way he has.
The Colts are using Collie in a somewhat similar fashion that the Patriots have been using Wes Welker. Except if Collie can keep it up he will be better because the Colts look to him at the goal line.
Yesterday alone Collie had 16 targets, 12 catches, 171 yards and 2 td's. At the pace he is going he will end up with 1,914 yards 144 recptions and 16 td's.... Obviously he would never be able to keep up that pace but I am starting to think he isn't going away any time soon.
Collie is feasting off the double teams and #1 cb's that are usually throw Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clarke's way. Pierre Garcon plays a different game than Collie does and it doesn't seem like Gonzalez is coming back anytime soon. If those statements hold Collie would continue in his Welker type role and continue to put up huge numbers.
Am I missing something here? For some reason I want to sell high on Collie, but I just can't bring myself to do it. If the trend holds Collie may very well up a top ten wr in 2010 and be the steal of the draft along with A.Foster.
Do you think Collie remains a stud or will he come back to earth?
