Bad News...Finley. (1 Viewer)

I traded Finley away earlier this season in two leagues - owners were just way too high on him. Hopefully this can be used as a learning opportunity and next year the new flavor of the week player will be met with a little more reluctance and caution.Regards,THE FANTASY KING
How do you ignore a person on this board again?

You goodposting someone that asks a basic question about this message board? Shameful.

Yes, because everyone can predict when a player is going to get hurt. :bag:

Of course not. That ability is only found in FANTASY KINGS.

I guess I'm fortunate. I haven't needed to drop Finley altogether from any league I own him. Roster sizes are large enough that I just cleared some room from another position to land an alternative. In one league I am specifically holding him because it's a keeper league, and if he lands on Injured Reserve I can move him there when it becomes official. On my non-keeper league, I just can't drop him until IR becomes official......guess I'm just holding out hope he comes back before the end of the NFL regular season, which I can then use him for our playoffs.

Finley has all the tools to become that elite TE most of us thought he could be (and was clearly heading down that path again this year,) but I'm wondering if he will be slapped with an "injury prone" label heading into next year.

Is Finley 100% droppable in redraft? or is there a glimmer of hope?

Has it been 100% confirmed he is out for the season?

Well, he's not IR yet, but that probably won't come until after the bye.

Knowing he's out up to 10 weeks puts him at about a Week 15 return. You'd be into the FF playoffs by then & there's no way you could start him in his first game back, so you're looking at Week 16 if you even make it that far. Unless you're 5-0 & have large rosters, it would be stupid not to cut Finley.

After watching the injury, and knowing what I know of anatomy and injuries (PT student), I have to think these injuries are related. He was having trouble with the knee last year. The problem with minor meniscus injuries, is that they cause minor discomfort and can go back to being asymptomatic with rest, treatment, and strengthening. However they are not likely to heal and often aren't picked up on MRI. The problem is that a minor tear is always at risk to become a major tear. My thinking is that this meniscus was torn last year, but it was minor and they just didn't know it. It didn't show up on imaging studies, and the pain and swelling resolved. Then last week it was re-torn, which in my opinion was inevitable given the probable presence of the minor tear. Going forward he should be fine, given the repair, and should return to form by next season. As a dynasty owner, I prefer him to sit out the season and come back next year 100%.

:lmao: seeing as I traded NICKS for Finley 2 weeks ago in a redraft im a really upset.... i still have good wrs and have z.miller... i didn't need to get finley when I had Miller.... really sucky news.. i had to drop the kid and hated it

Guys, why pay attention to people (do I have to mention names) who are obviously fishing. And if they arent fishing, how sad must their life be to pound their chest because they "predicted" failure by injury for a player? I mean, obviously they don't have much of real value in their life, so let them enjoy their day.

That said, I did bite the bullet and drop Finley. If there is any word he could be back, just jump in early with a waiver claim in week 10. Or 15. Or next years draft.

Its fantasy football, #### happens. Move on (and if you have a lonely enough existence, gloat in your own sad schaudenfraude)

I traded Finley just before the news broke about the IR situation. I got Gates in the deal, and Finley made me pay. The other guy dropped Finley and I think I'll pick him up as a good luck charm so that Gates injury is not season-ending. If Finley is against you, who can be for you? Stay on his goodside. Don't drop him.
