BaldGuys - head shavers gear & discussion (3 Viewers)

I've been using HeadBlade for years. I get the blades through Dorco though for a lot less. (They're also the same blades that Dollar Shave Club uses). Love the HeadBlade and how quick and easy it is. Also prefer to shave in the shower.

With so many new head shaving products out there it got me curious what others have tried and like. Is there a legit electric that can match the closeness of blades? Been thinking of trying one out. Also need to give the wife & kids gift ideas for Father's Day.

The shave soap I was buying from a local mom & pop shop is no longer available so I need to find a new one. For the after shave lotion I've been really liking the Bath & Body Works Beard & Scruff Cream.

What's your head shave gear?

Wife got me This one for Christmas and I have liked it. My head is not quite as smooth after a shave as a razor, but it is very close and I don't have to worry about cutting the head, especially when using a new blade lol. I usually use this during the week (head and face) and give both a good close shave Sunday.

Similar here but typically take the regular razor to my face as that really doesn't do well on my face. And yeah, once a week regular blade after that thing to get a closer shave to the head.

I wasn't blessed with a lot of facial hair (good or bad depending on how you look at it). I have my mustache and goatee, but other than that can go almost a week with out shaving and it doesn't look terrible so the electric works well just keeping it cleaner between shaves.

This Freebird has come up on a lot of best reviews I've read too. I also go with the super Sunday shave with the HeadBlade. Go every direction until I don't feel anything. Get the electric for the quick weekday touchups.

Just started using Remington balder boss and like it a lot

This and other Remington models seem to be at or near the top of every 3rd party test review I've read. How's the flip out trimmer?
Tbh I don't think I ever used it. May around the ear here and there. I was going to get the Remington model below the boss but caught the boss on sale for like $70.

I had a pair of wahl balding clippers that was on its last legs and this is way better. I would flip between the walh and a regular razor.

Now I just use the Remington in the shower a couple times a week. The only issue so far is if I let it go a little too long the hairs get a touch long for the Remington on my sides.

Been using the boss for about 6 months now.

They say blades last approx a year

I use the five spinny circles thing on my head.

I use the thing that looks like a normal hair trimmer clipper thing on my head first if it's too long for the spinny thing, and on my face almost daily.

This is the biggest issue for me as well. I usually don't shave Friday and Saturday (lazy weekend), so by Sunday it is usually a little long, especially in back. It still works, but takes longer and I have to clean mid shave. This is the main reason I use a razor Sunday night so I can get a clean shave for the upcoming week.

I've been using a double-edge safety razor on the head for about two years now. Seems to work very well, though I do get an occasional nick or cut, unfortunately.

If anyone has used both a safety razor and one of the electric options here, I would love to know a comparison. Ease of use, closeness of shave, etc.

I just use a blade twice a week. I'd say I nick myself about once every couple of months, and that sucks because my scalp bleeds forever, like I have hemophilia or something. I just slap on a band-aid and pretend like I'm Marsellus Wallace for a day. People are always confusing me with that guy anyway.

I've gotten "lazy" so I don't shave my head everyday like I used to. And not every other day, or every few days. I let it go about a week or whenever I want to look "better" and then get a beard trimmer out on the closest setting for a quick cleanup, then get the Gillette fusion 5 out for a clean shave. Tried an electric years ago and it didn't work out too well. Maybe the newer ones do and if used daily does well enough. Might give it another try since part of the reason I don't shave more often is the time and effort (aka lazy).

This is me too for the most part. I'm trying to get in a better habit this Summer and not have to bust out the clippers.

I use the Remington shortcut and so far I'm going to 2.5mm not all the way down. I think this is actually easier to maintain because there's always some there and 2 days vs 5 days between shaves is less obvious 🤷‍♂️

It's been trial and error for me for over 30 years. Dozens of razor blades, including the clubs like Dollar Shave Club and Harrys. And, all kinds of gels and creams. My current set up is the best yet. While spendy, I am back to Gillette Pro-Glide Razors, Burt's Bees Cooling Shave Gel and finish with a SkullShaver 5-head shaver. Burt's gel is magical; no nicks or cuts ever. The SkullShaver provides an awesome finish AND can be run over my old man ears too.

I tried a couple electric shavers and none of them compare to just using a blade. I use a Mach 3 razor and Edge shaving gel. I shave in the shower and do my face, my head, my balls, in that order, every three days or so.

I'll sometimes keep a separate ball razor because it seems kind of weird, but not always.
