Years ago went to a bar in New York called Paddy Reilly's. Drank tons of Guinness and saw a band called Black 47 there. Great show and helluva good time. Saw Black 47 again here in KC about ten years ago. Great band to see live.

Cheers is too upscale for my tastes. Give me a dive with interesting characters like Paddy's any night. 

 
ugh   I thought I was gonna see a list for bars, in the gut of a city..  Cheers without a doubt   But, Id admit could be more fun at Paddys

Not to hijack, but one of my favorites.  Saw them many times over the years.  They just retired in 2014.  We saw them at the Town Crier show in Beacon but missed their final show at Paddy's.  I don't think they had played there in years.  Their more recent residence in NYC had been Connolly's.  Their original piper, Chris Byrne, owns Rocky Sullivan's in Brooklyn.

Man, what a fun band.

 
pretty sure that once i got fully in the bag i'd knock the snot outta everyone in Cheers - those 'folksy' antiseptic joints and patrons can all go munch a bag of Richards - hate the show, hate the vibe - contemptible, to say the least.   and i'd definitely start with housing Cliff and Norm first  :thumbup:

gimme the grime and grit and insanity of Paddy's any day over those stuffy buffoons at Cheers. 

 
I'd have to go with Cheers.  Probably easier getting laid at Paddy's because you don't have to compete with Mayday for every piece of trim that walks in.  Then again, aside from the 2-3 episodes where the bar got packed, there's probably no one at Paddy's you'd want to bang.  You could probably bag Sweet Dee pretty easily, but after that, slim pickins.  At least at Cheers, there's usually lively conversation, The Gang at Paddy's wouldn't really interact with you.

 
Cheers is the kind of bar where you wipe your feet on the way in.  I prefer those bars where you wipe your feet on the way out.
