My roommate and a friend were arguing about how many home runs bonds would of hit if he has never juiced. Roomate says he would take about 50 away from him, and they other guy said about 200. What do you all think?

Around 9 or 10.
I agree with this and what redman was getting at in his response. The steriods have helped prolong his career. They have aided his ability to maintain his body at a very high level and recover at an equally fast pace. He has been able to play at a higher level for a much longer period of time. Regardless Bonds was a lock for anywhere from 500-600 HR and on his way to becoming a first ballot HOF. I (blanking) cannot stand the guy and I hate to admit that fact. However, with or without steriods Bonds is one of the best baseball players of all time.Da Guru said:Bonds would probably have a little over 600 now.Still a HOF career.
That's just ridiculus, unless you mean 100 to 125 less HRs than he has now.Good question and probably a terrific bar debate amongst drinking buddies. I would venture to guess 100-125.

Are you seriously arguing that the skill of pitching is equally improved by steroid use as hitting? Must never have played. How many home runs would he have hit if the pitchers he was not facing was also not on the Juice? So it is a wash to me
According to Game of Shadows, it was the 1998 McGwire-Sosa HR race that got him jealous, so 1999 was when he started. I'm not a Bonds fan, so take this at face value: he really only had one year that was tremendously out of whack, and that was 2001 when he set the HR record. He had other good years but they weren't ridiculously inflated above what he had done, which is why I think longevity is probably a better way of describing the overall effect rather than too many HR's in any given year (except, again, 2001).we should count all of the ones before his head grew by 821,768,263 miles. and play with the remaining HR numbers.
does any one have the year that they feel the steroids kicked in? 1997? im not sure since im not a giant fan.
2001 is the only year that is "out of whack" with the rest of his career because they stopped pitching to him after that. Check out his walk totals post-2001. If he was receiving the pitches, he would've hit 60+ HR a few more times.According to Game of Shadows, it was the 1998 McGwire-Sosa HR race that got him jealous, so 1999 was when he started.
