Baseball Forecaster v. Baseball Prospectus (1 Viewer)

I have usually used Ron Shandler's baseball forecaster when I am preparing for my drafts, but this year I bought baseball prospectus as well. Anyone use both? How would you compare them?

BTW, :blackdot:

I normally just go Prospectus + Baseball America Prospect Handbook, but is Shandler's book worth picking up too?

Started reading Prospectus, but it just seems like a regular fantasy mag. I guess I have to do more research on Pecota stats.Shandler's book is awesome, he hits more on hitters than pitchers, but he can really find some gems, all supported by underlying stats. there are always players that he really likes that are way down in regular fantasy magazines cheat sheets that are great end draft/auction fillers that end up paying off big time. (Shawn Marcum pre shoulder blowout was an example of this last season). I already skimmed through his book this year, and there are some interesting under the radar guys that he predicts to have big years. He is also good for spotting players whose underlying stats don't support their seasons. I cross off many of the big $$$$ players based off his analysis and focus on the ones whose underlying stats clearly support their production.

i buy both books. Shandler's (he doesn't write it anymore, btw) is better for fantasy team management, where BP is more for Moneyball fans. I've always been disappointed in BP's help for fantasy purposes, but i love reading their stuff just as a baseball fan. I also enjoy the Minor League book from Shandler's team.

I used to work for the printing company that prints all of Shandler's books. One day I had to talk to him on the phone and I told him he had Scott Podsednik rated way too low. He was not happy about me giving my opinion at all. Turned out he was dead-on - Podsednik went from hitting .314 to .244. Still, the guy was pretty much a jerk.
