We are in Baton Rouge for several days for bowling nationals. We are planning to go over to new Orleans at least 1 day. What are some things to do or see? Any food recommendations?
crawfish etouffee, red beans and rice, gulf shrimp and grits. If you are then on Friday night, wait till after 9pm and do some crazy crap to get the cops called on you and you can get on the TV show "On Patrol Live." If you do that, make sure you give a shout out to FBG's so we know it's you.
Some cajun staples are Louisiana Lagniappe, Parrain's and the Chimes near LSU campus.
Best steaks are probably Ruth Chris or Stab's or Doe's or Louisiana Lagniappe again.
If you like sushi, would recommend Tsunami. Nice Miss river overlook/view. Street parking available but would probably suggest a garage. Blend is a nice wine bar just off 3rd street also if that's of interest (check their website though as they are often closed for private events).
Wish I could suggest some fun or unique things to do but it's just not that kind of city. . . Maybe Tin Roof Brewery? L'auberge if you want to set some money on fire.
Go check out Bellue's on Scenic Highway (it isn't unless you consider Exxon scenic) for lunch. A true dump of a place with great food and the owner is a gem.
