BB a genius? Sure as long as Brady is QB (1 Viewer)

without a doubt this season is one of the best coaching job`s Belichick has done. Cassell is developing nicely, the def though really banged up is hanging tough. If this squad can go 10-6 11-5 and win a playoff game my hat`s off to him. A Thomas if out for the year will set them back but as a fan you have to have faith in this staff!

Really stunning what BB has done with this ragtag bunch. So many injuries to key players..

Brady made this guy. Tell me what the hell he has done without Brady? Believe me this guy sinks like a stone.
He made Brady.
 Wow. I'm starting to believe you're right.
cassell is putting up silly numbers all of a sudden. Who is this brady guy? Sounds like he may have been replaceable. :lmao:
I have ALWAYS hated Bellichik. iN HINDSIGHT, I think that I have to admit that I have found GOD!! Being a Bills fan, this absolutely reeks. The scouts in NE saw something that no other team saw and it's paying off large. (Legend has it that Norm Chow wanted him for Tenn and assumed that no one else had him on the radar.) HOW DOES THIS TEAM KEEP DOING THIS???

Fact:

Belichick has now failed to make the playoffs in New England in both seasons where Tom Brady was not his starting QB.

He made Brady.
Hate to so I told you so. Playoff birth or not, 11 wins is impressive.

11-5 gives them a record:

Equal or better than 7 playoff teams.
A 16-0 team with the easiest schedule ever. Lost its QB and went 11-5. meh
Even if you are fishing this is wrong on a lot of levels. The Pats beat 7 teams that were either playoff teams or had double digit wins last year.

Fantastic trolling job, you're as good of a troll as Belichick is a coach.

Its worth noting they did put 15 guys on IR including their starting QB, RB, best linebacker and safety.

Sparano should be the shoe-in coach of the year...but if he weren't, Belichek would deserve it for the job he's done this year. With all the injuries and a suspect defense, 11 wins is outstanding no matter how you want to measure it.

That's not fair. 11-5 should of gotten them in. I hate BB, but I'll give credit where it's due. It was a helluva coaching job.

Are you serious? If you ask 32 teams before the season would you be happy with an 11-5 record. I'd sign up for that. He went 11-5 with a QB who hasn't started a game since high school.

Coming into the season. Just like the 16-0 part. Obviously they were not 16-0 this season. But heading into this campaign, yes they were the 16-0 team and facing the easiest schedule ever.

In fact that Patriots team was so overwhelmingly dominant (has anyone seen anything clearly better in the past 25 years?) that losing the QB and dropping to 11-5 is about expected. Nothing too "impressive." Im not saying its not nice, it was nice, but we werent expecting dropping 10 games as a result. Dropping 5 games is about right, givin' the schhedule for sure.
You seem to think that people had the expectation that the Patriots would win 16 games again before the Brady injury. This is not accurate at all. Concensus was 13 or 14 wins before Brady's injury and 10 or 11 wins after the Brady injury. The fact that the Patriots were able to win 11 games after the losses of Brady, Harrison, Thomas, Bruschi, Maroney, Jordan, Morris, etc. is a noteworthy accomplishment (hardly "nothing too impressive")....

I don't see how you can seperate the two, they are both undeniably very good if not great at what they do and togethor they are undeniably great. I don't believe it is possible (in this day and age) for a HC to have a prolonged elite level of success without a terrific QB and vice versa for a QB without a great HC.

I agree BB did a great job but you cannot deny their schedule was easy -- one of the easiest in the past 20 or so years. I know you can only play the teams on your schedule but the Patriots didn't do so well when they faced a quality opponent.

The easy schedule thing is a double-edged sword, meaning that New England only lost badly to one quality opponent - Pittsburg. New England dominated Indy most of that game, running at will, only to lose due to two drive-killing screwups by Gaffney and Thomas. They barely lost to the Jets the week before the Jets crushed the Titans.Early losses to Miami and San Diego were exactly that: early losses. The Miami loss was later avenged, quite convincingly. In the end, NE failed to do what it needed to do to get into the playoffs, and therefore I won't go overboard praising BB for his coaching, but my point is that there isn't that much evidence that NE couldn't hang with the best outside of a BAD loss to Pittsburg (much like Pittsburg BAD loss to Tennessee).

Thanks; I will. The only reason I don't put the h in Pittsburg, despite being repeatedly told to do so by Steeler fans, is because every time I visit that rathole of a town I want to get the h outa there.

Isn't it amazing what one can accomplish with one year starting in the Pats system? Makes you wonder what Cassel would accomplish with, say 8 years in the system.

It also makes you wonder how Cleveland would have fared had they not changed QBs nearly every season with Belichick as coach.
