I'm quite certain most Wells' owners aren't *counting* on him at this point. Wells was hurt to start the season, and was second-fiddle to THT in his first couple of games back. Any owner that drafted Wells to be an RB1/2 has had no choice but to roll with a contingency plan not involving Wells. Until now. Your comment is a cop out, and fails to deliver any value. While I certainly wouldn't advocate any owner pencil Wells' in as a reliable RB1 or RB2 the rest of the way, there appears to be genuine growing role, touches and momentum for Beanie Wells. Will that translate into RB3/Flex-worthy numbers? Maybe. More than that? Possibly. But to discount Wells' completely and write him off, in my view, is not only lazy fantasy advice, it's also potentially quite flawed.Any owner counting on Wells will not be in the SB.
Completely agree. Beanie is actually pretty fluid catching the ball, so I'm not sure why it has to be that way.I'm sure THT was in the game more later - Arizona was trailing (in part because of Hightower's fumble - but other TOs as well), so it follows that TH was in the game more simply because the Arizona offense uses THT more in their "passing offense".In fact, I think that is part of the problem with Arizona's gameplan - THT in, they pass, Beanie in, they run more. It's too predictable. Wells has proven he can catch the ball when given the opportunity. As long as they follow this "blueprint", THT will have decent running stats (as teams see him as primarily the pass catcher) as Wells will have weaker rushing stats (as teams key the run when Wells is in).I would like to see the total plays count. Hightower might have only touched the ball once after Beanie's first appearance, but he was in the game a lot more than Beanie it seemed like. Personally, I'm tired of Whiz's shtick. It's getting old. While Beanie is still not breaking out yet, it does appear the tea leaves are continuing to line up in his favor going forward. There is always concern that game situation will take Wells' off the field for Hightower or Hyphen, but Whisenhunt has also been quoted recently saying Wells' blitz pickup has improved to the point where there is no reason to remove him on passing downs for that specific reason. Add in the fact that Wells has already had his bye week, and his remaining schedule is decent, there is a lot to like about this situation if you are a Beanie owner right now.Running back Tim Hightower lost a fumble on his sixth carry on Sunday, and he didn't get a chance for a seventh attempt.
Beanie Wells replaced Hightower, who touched the ball just one more time - via the pass, in the Cardinals 22-10 loss to the Seahawks.
It was the fourth fumble Hightower has lost this season, and it could well be the one that costs him the starting job.
"We can't live with that going forward," Whisenhunt said. (LINK)
In a year and a half Wells has had one 100 yard game, one game with 2 TDs, he averages less than .5 TDs per game, and he averages less than 1 reception per game. I am sorry but I have better things to do than to try and time this guy’s productive game(s). If you have a big roster fine but I would not feel comfortable having this guy above a RB4. There are better options. Remember AZ is a mess right now and they have one of the worst QB situations in the NFL.I'm quite certain most Wells' owners aren't *counting* on him at this point. Just picked him up off waivers as I need a fill in RB this week at my RB2 position and I like his remaining schedule and maybe he has a big game vs TB, maybe he doesnt.I think the game against Tampa is going to be very telling on where Beanie stands in FF terms and in the eyes of his coach for the rest of the season. He couldn't be in a better situation to start with Hightower getting yanked in SEA, and Tampa bay has a putrid run defense. If he doesn't get it done next week I am bundling him with MJD and hoping someone bites.
