Bears vs Cardinals (1 Viewer)

With all of the Bears love and hate going around here, how do you think this game plays out??? Is it another blowout of a bad team by the Bears or is it a close game where the Bears get exposed???

Before anyone laughs at this question, would any of you bet that the Broncos wouldn't have 14 points against the Raiders, at home in Mile High?

I think folks are in for a surprise game tonight one way or the other - the only game I do NOT see happening is a Bears blowout.

Interesting.

I don't know that the Bears have a weakness to be exposed, but I do think they are due for a letdown. With the Cardinals having the disappointing season to date after high expectations, they may try to make a statement. I expect this game to be closer then one would suspect.

The loss of Fitzgerald and the impact that had on the Cardinals offense was immediately evident last week. As soon as he hit the bench, the Cardinals had a harder time on offense. Boldin just got rolled coverage all night. The Cardinals will most likely be forced to use James in protection more often than not. They are going to need him to chip at the ends and or Harris. That is going to free up the Bears LB and DB.

The rookie, who looked awesome last week, is in for a long evening. I do not think it will be high scoring, as the Bears will gladly play keep away; get out with a win and fly home healthy, but I think S. Player is in for a good night's work.

I'm getting this weird vibe that the Bears are looking past this team, but with the game being on Monday Night I don't anticipate a lack of focus. These two teams played in the preseason, and Leinart did a great job against the Bears vanilla defense. They're going to do a lot more blitz packages this time around, and come at the rookie from every direction.

Bears by 3 touchdowns.

I agree that there isn't anything to "expose" on the Bears right now, and even if there was, it wouldn't be the Cards to do it.

I think Lovie will remind the team that anything can happen if you let your guard down - TEN, DET getting wins this week, for example. They will be focused on winning this game, and they will get it done.

I don't see this one being close.

Any given Sunday can extend into Monday. Upsets happen all the time, especially when one overconfident team is facing a gimme game. Of course the blowout is possible, but I got a feeling this will be a good one from start to finish. At least I hope so.

Isn't this the oldest NFL rivalry?

Leinart will pass for 270 and 2 TD's. I will celebrate with 3 beers and a bowl of chips. This is my official prediction. (Bears still win)

Apples and oranges. The Broncos have looked average at best in thier 4 wins, so yeah, i certainly can believe they only scored 13 on the Raiders. The Bears on the other hand, have completely blown out 4 out of 5 teams. They've scored more than 4 times more points than they have given up. Rookie QB, no Fitz, this game is over before halftime. I'm no Bears fan at all, i hate them. But lets get real.

I believe that after 20 years of embarassing ineptitude the Bears are looking for a little validation in front of a nationwide audience. They seem confident without it having boiled over into overconfidence or cockiness. I see 28-0.

I also think the annual Grossman injury is way overdue so I'll be watching for that tonight.

I don't think the Bears are overconfident or looking past this game. From listening to local sports radio and reading the local papers, they are taking this game seriously.

I think the Bears will win big.

I'll be at the game tonight. Rumor has it that this will be the first time they open the roof.

The Cards M.O. year-in, year-out is that they play tough at home, and are doormats on the road. Check out their games this year. At home, they beat the Niners, shouda-coulda beat the Rams, but found a way to lose and shoulda-coulda beat the Chiefs, but again found a way to lose. On the road, they have played the Seahawks and the Falcons and got taken apart in both games.

If this game was at Soldier field, you'd probably see the Cards get beat by 50. Being a home game, I do think it'll be close than most think. As a Cards fan, I'm hoping they can eek out a win. As a realist, I think it could end up being very similar to the other home losses: The Cards hang around for awhile and make a game out of it. Come fourth quarter, they'll make a couple of critical mistakes and find a way to lose.

My heart says 20-17 Cards, my gut says something like 24-14 Bears with less than a touchdown seperating the teams heading into the fourth quarter.

Weird stuff happens with high emotion. When was the last time the lowly Cards were on MNF? Like 1986? If Houston can win their first ever game against Dallas (and hardly ever win again in the following 5 years) then Chicago can lay an egg tonight. Anything is possible.

If Fitzgerald ws playing, I'd go out on a limb and predict upset.

Interesting aside: Article in the Sunday paper on the MNF game. Cards have only had three MNF games in Arizona since they moved here. In each one something wacky/notable happened:

1) Buddy Ryan's debacle of a last game. Fight in the locker room between Cards players before the game. Buddy Ryan ran off the field before the game was over. Video of the last moments of his coaching career were for him standing half in the tunnel by himself looking completely confused over why his players hadn't run off behind him.

2) Aeneas Williams gives Steve Young a concussion, ending his career.

3) Wacky Al Del Greco trick play where Cards passed up an easy field goal to let Del Greco run the ball and he froze up when he got the ball.

Hmmm, what's in store tonight?

It was 97 or 98, I was at that game. The aforementioned game that ended Young's career.

Anyone think the Bears could blank the Cards?...

Fitz is out / Leinart (even though he looked good last game) is still a rookie in his second start that will face more than one blitz / Edge can't get 3 yards per carry with that OLine and they are facing the Bears DLine tonight / Grossman is hitting on all cylinders...

This is assuming that the Bears don't give them points with a turnover (i.e. AWilson sacking Grossman... the ball gets loose...) that would give the Cards a starting position close to the Bears GL...

Thoughts?

They have lived up to their high expectations, IMO.They have been "in" three of their losses until the very last DRIVE.Flip the script on those three drives and . . . .

Someone might but that someone aint me.In Chicago, maybe. In Cardinals stadium - not a chance they get a shutout.
Cardinals new stadium -national TV - MNF- I think the Cards will be ready for the Bears. I am in no way saying the Cards will win - all I am staying is that a blowout is not as likely as many people believe.

I'm kind of thinking the Cards could keep it within a TD. I mean, this is pretty much their Super Bowl, while the Bears can talk as much as they want about not overlooking this game, it's easier said than done. It's tough not to look ahead to the bye week and start making plans to relax.

I thought when the cliche of "looking ahead" is used, it is usually used in reference to a team preparing for a more difficult game the following week. There'll be plenty of time to make plans for relaxing, when you're relaxing, if you know what I mean.

I think the worst thing that could have happened to the Cardinals this week is for the Bills to get that TD in garbage time last week. The Bears D is angry, guys - they're not looking past anyone.

Thomas Jones will put up a lot of combined yards (120+), Benson will score two tds, Bears will score at least one td on defense or special teams. Rackers will knock in a couple field goals. Lets go with 31-6.

Should be a quick game as Bears will grind it out.

I think the real question is whether Chicago will cover 11.5 touchdowns or not at Arizona (since many of us don't really care).

I bet on Arizona, fingers crossed.

I think many are going to be surprised by the turnout of the Bears fans tonight.

There seem to be a reasonable amount of fans from the Bears message board that planned this game before the season started. There's also a good amount of Chicago transplants down there.

Bears 30, Cardinals 7. And it will be loud anyways.

Witness: Denver versus Oakland.

It will be over by halftime.....
That will be a first in NFL history.Normally, they play four quarters.Do you see a terrorist attack? a forfeit? What?
Snide remarks become you.
Not snide - just the truth. No game is over by halftime (as the Bills proved versus the Oilers way back in the day).Nothing's over - was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Barring Frank Reich suiting up and playing for the Cardinals in the 2nd half, it'll be over. ;)

 no...just a score that the Cards will not be able to overcome with a rookie QB and brutal O-Line versus the undisputed best team in the NFL right now.31-10 Da Bears.
Even 31-0 at haftime is not a score an offense like the Cards can't overcome.

What you're going to witness tonight is a team on an entirely different level than the rest of the NFL.And everyone will still predict a letdown against the 49ers in two weeks...
