Bears vs Dolphins Game Thread (1 Viewer)

The Bears D is legit...but this game was against a substandard offense.

Seriouser question: Please predict what the Bears' "quality" opponents like the Seahawks and Redskins records would look like if they were in the AFC? They absolutely SUCK! Yet THEY'RE .500? HOW BAD IS THE NFC???Meanwhile, you've got the Lions, Cowboys, Vikings, Carolina and Buffalo mixed in.DRECK!But enjoy that 2nd half fade and wonder, GEE, WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR "GREAT" D?
The NFC is so bad the Eagles beat the Colts, the Saints beat the Steelers, the Falcons beat thr Ravens and the Packers beat the Jets.

Hence the shutout. In today's NFL, not only do you have to be legit and them some as a defense to register a shutout, the opposing offense has to be nasty. The Dolphins looked horrible, that team is done. If somebody came back in a time machine and told me the Dolphins didn't win a game the rest of the year I wouldn't bat an eye.

And the Bears played none of those teams?

Oops. My bad re: the Packers. Care to bet what happens next time they play?

I love your argument. Bears suck! NFC sucks! Oh wait...bunch of good afc teams just lost to nfc! Well, Bears didn't beat any of them! Oh wait...they beat the pack! Oh yeah? Care to bet on what happens next? You sound like a self defeating argument. Hey buddy, there's more to football than a high scoring offense. Just because your fantasy league doesn't factor in defensive points other than DEF TEAM doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Defense and special teams is more than half the game of football last time I checked.

Roll your eyes all you want, but Bears have played the dregs of the NFC so far this season and BUFFALO is the only AFC team. They've proven exactly NOTHING.
The Giants and Packer are the dregs of the NFC? Interesting. Also, do you think the Bears have gotten to 7-3 on the strength of their 29th-ranked offense?
COZ THEIR OTHER EIGHT OPPONENTS HAVE ALL SUCKED TO A HISTORICAL DEGREE?
I have a Historical Degree. Are you saying I suck?
:goodposting:And who pissed in Homer's beer? (If he's old enough to drink... )

You asked how bad is the NFC.Id say its bad enough that the top NFC teams have beaten the top AFC teams.Im not a Bears fan...but you are embarrassing yourself in here man.

Considering I am a Packers fan, I hope we kick the absolute crap out of the Bears.Doesn't change the fact that you made a foolish statement about the NFC.

That 'O' is as offensive as Carolina right now.I think if Miami was scheduled to play Carolina in the coming weeks, they would just cancel it and give both teams a loss. No one would show up at the stadium and sure as hell no one would watch from home. Can't wait for 18 game seasons when by the end of the year, teams are playing with the rosters from the CFL and AFL. Oh, joy.

All of this talk about the NFC vs the AFC, are the Bears a legit D or aren't they? Don't try to figure it out, they play the games for a reason.

I've been an active Bears fan for 25+ years and have (I think) a pretty comprehensive knowledge of their history. Here's the deal about the Bears. They aren't like most other teams in the league. Their team identity is one of frustrating proximity to greatness with fatal flaws. Even when they are really good they can be schemed against and don't matchup great against certain teams (see 85 bears vs Dolphins). The result is wildly erratic performances. They'll shut down a team that people think is really good and then lose to a team that isn't. They'll hold a team to 50 yards in the first half and then get torched in the second half. They are susceptible to getting torn apart by good passing teams, especially when they can't get pressure with the front 4 (thus the acquisition of Peppers, Julius). I can't tell you how many times I've watched Bears games with my relatives (psycho fans, all of us) wherein we all wondered aloud why the opposing offensive coordinator didn't throw the ball more, only to see the other team come out at half and do just that. The Bears are a streaky team, even within the parameters of one game. Last night they wanted that shutout and were playing like it. It certainly didn't hurt that they dolphins strengths (Ricky, Ronnie) matched up poorly against the Bears strengths. The Dolphins had neither the required QB (skillwise) in the game nor the right playcalling. There are still probably 25+ team defenses in the league that give up at least a field goal. The Bears are who we thought (knew) they were. The same old Bears as always. They'll build us up and tear us down, they'll make us wish for losses so we can change regimes only to win in spite of our wishes. It is the condition of being a Bears fan. It sucks but I wouldn't trade it for any franchise in the league. My son's name is Payton and I tell him stories about men named Halas, Nagurski, Sayers and Butkus.
