Game Thread W3 - Green Bay V Chicago (1 Viewer)

Amazing how college coaches have evolved to non-traditional strategies like going for it on seemingly "crazy" 1st downs, fake punts deep in your own territory, letting teams score when it makes sense, etc that have constantly won them games while NFL coaches continue to sit on the "traditional" but game losing moves just because they're scared to be the first in the league to do it.
Green Bay employed zero logic on those last downs. With the option to have a legitimate chance to tie the game, they opted to give themselves zero chance. All that sequence required was an ounce of common sense. Dumbfounding. Blasting coaches with the advantage of hindsight is so common that decisions like this get lost in the shuffle. This was truly, truly moronic.

Even Wade Phillips would have let them score with a minute 30 with 1 timeout left. I cant even believe GB just did that, it looked fixed it was so bad. I would like to know his thoughts behind that, was his hopes to block the kick rather than give Rodgers a shot?

Wait, they shouldn't have called it dead like that right? What if the Bears had done something stupid like a personal foul? I think the refs screwed that up.
It was an incomplete pass. You can throw an illegal forward pass and the play continues if it's caught. But if it hits the ground, the play is dead same as any other forward pass hitting the ground.

Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory;Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly. We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T-formation.Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown. You're the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, bear down.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

How completely disappointing. Packers gave it away with a record 17(18) penalties. Even then they were still in the game. The Bears should enjoy the win, the playoffs will be a long road the way they played.

I will never understand why the Packers didnt let the Bears score when there was still over a minute left. they killed their own clock. Pathetic really.

Anyone seen Jennings in the second half?
Rodgers hasn't.
I think Jennings has already showered and gone home for the night. I haven't even seen him on the field. *******'s gonna cost me my fantasy game this week.
Yeah Rodgers didn't even look at him the whole second half. What happened there?

Normally, I heckle Packers fans relentlessly after a Bears victory, but I genuinely feel sorry for them after that game. That was embarrassing

The next time I am plotting the death of the Cowboys coaching staff....I will think of McCarthy....guy, what are you doing?

I see, makes sense - I stand corrected.Another thing is that everyone is killing McCarthy and rightfully so but what about Lovie and Martz? Why are they trying to score?

so one coach is handing off to his RB hoping to score...when they shouldn't be scoring.(Just kneel)

..and another coach trying to stop the RB from scoring when he should be letting him score.

I think he may have been riding the pine. I saw in the stats Rogers targetsed him often in the 1st half and he always came up empty

Amen, terrible game on both sides from a coaching stand point. the GB penalties were the real embarrassment though

I've seen Dallas play a lot of stupid games so I understand your pain. However, 17 penalties, poor coaching at the end....they just didn't deserve it. Green Bay is definately a playoff team, it's games like this and the Dallas/Washington game earlier this year that keep these rivalries flowing.

Packers don't need a running game. If there special teams played average, and they had half the penalties, they win this game by 2 tds.
Ifs don't matter. They lost, and if they continue to not even try to run the ball, they will have no shot at the Super Bowl.

What a game. I would have preferred to have fewer penalties down the stretch, but a great win for the Bears. They'll have to play a lot better to win in Green Bay.

I loved Culter raising his hands in victory at the pass interference call on his underthrown pass late in the game. What a cocky SOB, I think he believes he intentially under threw to draw the penalty, he is really that good.

I keep trying to be a Bears fan, but I fail!

those grapes are sour!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is way you don't waste a time out on a play that will not be overturned
:unsure:I know your first instinct is to say "damn, it MIGHT be overturned" but on a MNF game with 15 camera angles you should go out and lobby and argue with the refs while they are deciding the call just to give your guys upstairs enough time to quickly determine what they see on the tape. It was clear from even the first or second look that while onthe edge of the marker, that the player made a great play to keep him and the ball in bounds. With that TO you have a 40 second drive and not that Keystone Kops meets Cal Bears Football play.

I just want a solid well fought game, not a comedy of errors. this game sucked, too bad someone has to win

Notice who scored for Chicago - Olsen and Hester - 2 former Hurricanes. The Canes have an incredible streak of 125 regular season NFL weeks with a TD score from a former Cane. Shockey and Santana Moss also scored in the Sunday games. The streak started in week 15 of 2002. I think the next best streak is a 5-year streak from Ohio State.
