The total guaranteed value of Beckett's contract is $30 million. Here's how it breaks down:
$2 million signing bonus
$6 million salary for 2007
$9.5 million salary for 2008
$10.5 million salary for 2009
$12 million at club option for 2010. The option becomes automatic if Beckett makes 28 starts in 2009 or he has a total of 56 starts in 2008 and 2009.
As a huge sox fan, i'm estatic. Makes the Burnett/Pavano/Millwood deals look even more awful in retrospect. With Beckett and Lester solidified in the rotation for the next few years, along with Papelbon possibly if he makes the switch to SP, the sox future seems very bright.

I think? WTH are you doing with a name of STEELCURTAIN if you are a Sox fan?Beckett has a lot of years left. This is his first year in the AL. I think he will get it figured out. I like a Sox rotation with Beckett, Papelbon and Lester at the top. All you need are a couple of reliable 4th and 5th guys at the back of the rotation and a closer. Hansen may or may not be that guy.
