Beckham getting called up to the bigs (1 Viewer)

Per Ozzie on the post game show - Beckham is coming up to the bigs! What do you guys think he will do?

Whoever that was in the White Sox thread that suggested he'd be up soon, major props to you. I decided to burn my #2 waiver claim and as it turned out three others had claims in for him too so I would not have gotten him after waivers

:P picked him up in my keeper league two days ago. Itll be a season long battle between him and Drew for who I keep as my SS

So is this guy a must add at a thin SS position? I think he is mostly going to play 3rd for the Sox, but I believe he will be eligible at SS in most leagues.

 I think he has doubles power right now. From what I understand, his home park at AA suppressed home runs though. I am going to wait a few games before bringing him off of my minors bench spot though. Still - I'm very excited about this since I've been unable to keep a healthy shortstop in my starting lineup.

Yeah, I went ahead and called him up from my minors roster...we only have rights to our guys for 10 days after they get called up, but with Hamilton on the DL, I had an open spot I hadn't filled yet, so I went ahead and did it. We'll see, but I was desperate for a younger option at 3B, SS (have Figgins and Tejada there right now, but was hoping to be able to trade them at the deadline while they still have some value). Yay for me!

Hitting 300/440/550 over his past 6 games. If he continues this over the next week I think I'll have a new starter at 3B.

He has only K'd a few times in 50 AB's, and hasn't had much luck on batted balls...it will come, the talent is obvious. Still think he should be playing in AA, but I'm not the GM.

shhhh!!!!! please keep this a secret. He has two more ropes today, might be the best hitting infielder on the south side since uhm.....Robin Ventura.

He'll come crashing back down...count on it. And I'm a Beckham owner.
Any data to back that up? I'm not doubting you - just wondering if you are working off a hunch? I need a 3B and at this point it is either Beckham comes out of my minors sport or Rolen off the FA list...

hes a rookie, so hes bound to have his ups and downs. but then again i dont think rolen can go anywhere but down from here...

:ptts: No data...I've just got a good feel for the game.

I don't think Rolen's season has been a fluke production wise, he's solid when healthy, health has been his past issue. I'd ride Beckum's hot streak and when he cools off replace him with Rolen if he's still available. I own Beckum in two leagues, but both of them have deeper benches, he's in right now but when he hits another lull I have Guzman and Polanco to plug in with production that won't excite me but won't kill me either.

Each time I've seen Beckham, he looks better and more comfortable than the last time. That said, Fin's not some internet blowhard. He's right WAY more than he's wrong about anything baseball related.

Two Words:Jimmy Gobble

Two Words:Jimmy Gobble
That thread was destined for great things. I was just having a lot of fun there. You were in our :e: draft last year. If you remember we had a DH debacle where Yahoo hadn't entered in DHs. Someone drafted Ortiz and used Jimmy Gobble as a placeholder. Ever since then his name has been stuck in my head. Figure I'd put it to use and my Gobble-ultimate sleeper closer thread was born.

His contact rate is great. His BA has been high over the past week or two so I do see a correction coming, though I can also see Ozzie placing him higher in the order if Beckham continues to improve. I'm excited about the guy... but am bracing for a crash now that I've put him in my lineup. SS and 3B have been nothing but a revolving door for me all year.

I think his talent is very real and he will be very good. But it is his first season so there will be ups and downs.

I would be super excited if Beckham has a similiar 2nd half to what Longoria did last year.

He's eligible at SS in my league. Should I drop Yunel Escobar (tired of all his various minor injuries) for Beckham?

Still think the Sox move him to SS/2B in the off-season, where he becomes an elite player, in fantasy and reality. He will never hit 40HR's, but I think he has the up-side of a Paul Molitor. Even if he becomes a very poor man's Molitor, Chicago fans should be very happy. His swing is so level, not many, if any holes in it...

He's never gonna leave 3B. SS/2B are already filled.
