My wife is a principal at an elementary school in the Minneapolis suburbs.

The county we live in is very white and very Republican. But we're right on the border to another town and county that is very, very diverse. Point is, the school district overlaps both counties and gets very diverse when you cross the road basically.

My son is Latino and went to a pretty white elementary school. He started middle school down the road this year, and the school has high percentages of minorities, which is a very good thing for him and why we moved to this school district in the first place.

Here are a couple of things that have taken place at his school so far this week, one on Wednesday, one today:

Multiple white kids were yelling at a group of Latino kids in the cafeteria, "You're all going to back to Mexico now, hombres! Trump rules! Trump rules!"

Then a white kid was standing on a balcony and squirting a water bottle onto a group of black kids below, yelling, "This is Trump pissing on you! White power!"

Kids are awesome, especially ones with awesome parents.

I'd imagine they're like most young people I know and they took it literally and freaked out.

Reminds of something that happened  after the Chickfila controversy about gay marriage. We always get our meals bought for us by the company when we have a meeting over lunch. Well after those protests EVERY lunch meeting had Chickfila . Noteworthy in that we had never had it before at any of our lunches. Two of my gay coworkers really felt welcome,  the plant manager would always smirk at them.  Flash forward about a year and that plant manger is fired on the day he came in someone completely littered his office with pink glitter the night before - never found out who did that.

Obvious statement of the day: If those things happened, they are terrible and the kids should be expelled.....of course, I'm sure those types of kids are no stranger to doing stupid things.
