Being a World Champion (1 Viewer)

So, with the end of the World Series less than a week away, I was wondering what it takes to be able to say you were on a championship team...that you are a World Champion.

Do you have to be on the WS active roster? Have played x number of games in the season? On the 40 man roster?

For example, Tim Wakefield was left off the WS active roster, but he's clearly been a major part of the team all year long. If he was 100% healthy, they would have played him (and started him in game 2). If the Red Sox manage to hang on and win the World Series, can Tim Wakefield say that he won 2 World Series in his career?

All I know is Drew Bledsoe is a champion just because of the Pittsburgh game.

I will not accept argument on this.
