Belicheck's Coaching (1 Viewer)

Last few weeks, the Pats have jumped out to 30+ point leads in/around the 3rd quarter. Logic would suggest that, with their defense, a lead of 30 points is probably sufficient with less than 1/3 of the game remaining; yet, Belichick has kept Brady, Moss, etc. in the game in these situations.

Not only is this poor sportsmanship, but I think Belichick is putting his players in jeopardy by playing them under these circumstances. Not only are they still playing a dangerous game, they are playing against players who are losing (badly) and extremely frustrated. It won't be long before somebody gets 'irritated' and takes a cheap shot on a marquis player out of frustration in such a situation...if that player gets hurt, I point the finger (the middle one) at Belichick, not the guy who laid the hit on the player.

[Oh yeah, the Pats are for real.]

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

LOL.

Up 38-0 with 11 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Belicheck decides to 'go for it' on 4th and 1 from the Redskins' 10-yard line!

I rest my case, Your Honor.

Pats up 38-0 in 4th and they just went for it on 4th down from the Skins 8.

Convinced this is a big FU to the rest of the league at this point.

This is a professional sport. Forget sportsmanship. If a team wants to keep the game close, it's on them to do it.

This comes down to BB acting like a pissed off teenager because his ego has been bruised and the chance he's taking with the bodies of his key players. If I were the owner of a business and my manager was using my equipment this way, I'd fire him.

Can't wait to hear Gibbs comments on this.

Part of the explanation might be DC Greg Williams- I think Belichick had issues with him in the past maybe.

So did Bill tell you this or are you reading minds through your TV?

I am watching the game and am amazed that the Pat's are calling timeouts in the 4th quarter while they are up by 38 points. Instead of kicking a FG (a chip shot) on 4th and 2 they go for it. The drive ends in a pass for a TD. Wow. I haven't seen guts like this in a while, meaning I can't believe they are keeping their starters in the game.

Ok so my theory is it has to be one of three things:

1) BB is an attention whore.

2) BB is still mad about spygate and wants to make more than a point.

3) BB is betting on the games and wants to make sure the Pats cover the spread by twice the amount the spread was.

4) BB drafted all of the Patriot's for his fantasy football team?

I'd say it's an assumption/guess. Not a bad one either. BB is making a serious case for NFL ahole of the year (ending Owens' incredible steak).

I forgot who said it but there was a quote that went something like this, "I'll stop trying to score when they stop."

Tell the Redskins to take a knee.

Fixed. :goodposting:

1 and 2 are correct. I am not ready to believe 3, but nothing would surprise me with BB. I hate the Pats!

I AGREE..someoNE will get taken out.. and hate to say it.. but i blame BB.. no way any starter should be in there.. i just became a huge indy fan.. hope brady ends up on his head.. maybe next week someone roll sinto the sideline and rolls up on BB.. maybe that would wake him up.. 38-0 and you call timeouts??? 38-0 and you go for it on 4th down?? 38-0 and you THROW A TD PASS???... PURE ASSH@@@S.. PATRIOT HATER HAS BEEN BORN

I'm sure they're glad to have you.

I'm ok with scoring tons of points. However, I think it would be smart to get the backup QB some reps. Just makes sense to me.

I think the serious question becomes at what point it actually becomes your duty as a team trying to beat the Patriots to level Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and the others as often as possible. I'd generally call that dirty play, but as long as you're not actually going outright for helmet to helmet blows, taking out knees, etc, I'm not so sure it would be unethical.

:football: Football ain't a girl's sport. Quit worrying about hurt feelings on the side. I love what the Pats are doing this year. :lmao:

I don't believe number 3 either... was just trying to be funny. I like the #4) BB has all patriots on his fantasy team.

Well then you're a dispicable person.

It's bad sportmanship, there's no reason for it. Today both the colts and chargers were way up and took out their stars. I'm not playing against any pats players so I have no personal stake in it, I just find it in bad taste.

Bill and his Patriots are classless. 4th and 1 up by 38 and you go for it. CLASSLESS.

AND THEY KEEP PASSING.

I for one am rooting for the Brady knee injury in one of these 45-0 games. Nothing against Brady. I just feel that sooner or later running up the score every week will catch up with you.

You could easily be up 38, kick that FG...and soundly win the game.

Its one thing to explain throwing the ball up 17 like they did in the Browns game....another to go for it on 4th and 1 on a teams 10 yard line when your up 38.

Did you ever confuse these guys with class players? They're absolutely classless and have been for a long time. Mind you, class isn't the point of the NFL.

these are PROFESSIONAL sports players. sportsmanship?! both sides play to win until its over. period. if you pull out your starters, it's like saying "ok, don't play serious (losing team), because if you continue to try to win against our backups we'll cry and throw a fit". these guys are paid to perform and they are performing.

You're 1/2 right on this one....going for it on 4th isn't necessarily classless, running the ball a ton when you're up by 38 isn't classless, but passing for the TD is totally classless...

People calling the Patriots classless while in the same post rooting for a person to suffer a serious physical injury. It'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

It looks like the backup QB is just as classless as the rest.

When you're the backup QB and you just took the score to 51-0, just hand the ball to the official. No need for the spike.

Brady out inside 9 minutes in the fourth quarter. He's got his three TD passes today, which may have something to do with it. Brady now has 30 passing TDs through 8 games, and that doesn't count his rushing TDs. They replaced Maroney with Evans for most of the second half, replaced Evans with Eckel, took out Brady for most of the fourth quarter, and started bringing in backup receivers like Gaffney and co.

The only play I really disagreed with was the Tom Brady QB sneak on 4th and 1. That was just a bad, bad idea. But I'd be surprised to hear that that was anyone but Brady's idea. He saw it, and he went for it.

As for this score here, Cassel looks good in relief. It's good to see how he could do in case something does happen to Brady.

Nah, how many times does Cassel get to do that anyway...Especially after that run he gets the spike...

No Patriot fan who ever played the game themselves can defend this.

To keep your QB and stud WR's in the game and be passing like you are in a freakin' 2 minute drill when up 38-0 is absolute BUSH LEAGUE. It is not condoned at any level in sports. And to do this to a 3 time SB winning coach is a huge slap in the face. What did they need to prove?

I'm not wishing an injury on anybody, because I wanna see the best players on the field. But if somebody is frustrated and takes someone out at the knees causing Bill B to have less than a full roster I would not be upset at all. Me and a few other million fans. They need the equivalent of a brushback pitch in baseball. Late hit - take Brady OUT. Maybe that will change Bill's perspective.

Also, what's up with the hard as you can spiking after every TD like it's a 1 point game? Now Cassell does the same thing, like he just won the SB on the last play, only it's 52-0.

And don't even come with the "if they want to keep it close, play better". Karma is a beeyatch. They will get theirs.

I'm just sick watching Portis and Santana Moss still in the game. What do they think is going to happen? They should run the ball three times with their fourth stringers.

all i can say is 6-7 weeks ago all of you anti-pats fans were saying that the pats were winners because of spygate. if i was the pats i'd want to prove you wrong.

and man are thay doing that.
