Belichek after the game (1 Viewer)

Pat Patriot

Footballguy
Did you get a good look on Asante Samuel’s pass interference call?

Belichek - “I think I saw what the side judge saw.”

And it wasn’t the side judge that threw the flag, was it?

Belichek - “Sure wasn't. You have to go ask them what they saw.”

If Asante came up to you and said ‘What could I do better on that play?’ what could you tell him?

Belichek - “I’d tell him the same thing the side judge told him.”

Before everyone jumps, the Patriots lost and deserved to lose. I just found this exchange quite amusing.

Lets not forget that he had a long pause in between questions. As if he wanted to make sure he wouldn't get fined.

More Belichek. He was on FIRE!!

On Watson’s hustle play, was that challenge just to take a chance that the ball might have been knocked out of the end zone?

Belichek - “It definitely went out.”

Out of the end zone?

Belichek - “It went out of his hand. They reviewed the play, go ask them.”

Sounds like he said MOST of the right things but it is clear that Belichek at least blames SOME of this defeat on the refs.Ok, send all the sour grapes coments my way.

Here are some sour grapes. It's also spelled "Belichick".

And hearing Belichick whine about calls isn't funny at all.

:potkettle:

The Pats have benefitted from good calls more than any other team I can remember. (Tuck Rule, 0:02 from the SB, mugging the WRs, etc.)

I agree that the Pats have had their share of calls go their way. While some may not agree with Belichick's assessment of certain situations (i.e., basically most Broncos fans), you gotta cut the guy some slack.I mean, he hasn't had to give a post-game interview following a playoff defeat since half of the posters on this Board were in diapers. Granted, that would also include very old posters who wear Depends.

Chase, benefiting from calls in the past shouldn't mean a person should approve of them going the other ways. I'm sure fans on every side of every tough call would prefer it be called correctly. I'd imagine Broncos fans will tire of hearing about these calls just as Pats fans have tired of hearing about the tuck rule and the no-call PI in the past. In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to deal with crummy calls and the winners could beat their chests with no * added.Colin

Whine?You are mindblowing.

What is the problem with this? Why should Belichick not blame the refs? Anyone with a pro-Pats affliction would think that way. I don't interpret him blaming the refs at all - he says to ask the refs what they saw, and saying what he saw.

nothing to see here.

I'm a Pats fan of the highest order but you dont notice all of the sarcasm in his comments? I think the comments are great and hilarious especially when you imagine the deadpan manner in which Belichick delivered them. But he still said plenty of "Denver beat us" in the interview but threw in just enough shots at the refs.

.02 from the SB? Is that really what you are going with? You are talking about the clock running out after Vinatieri's FG against the Rams? You are comical..... :lmao: In the Pantheon of calls that went the Pats way, that is about 143,242. No mention of David Patten being knocked unconscious but still maintaining possesion of the ball because his head was out of bounds.

From someone who saw the video multiple times, it was clear that Belichick was choosing his words extremely carefully for just about every sentence. With respect to the refs, I think it was clear he didn't want to say anything that would make him look like a sore loser -- he also didn't want to get fined I'm sure.

Guys, as a Colts fan, I was disgusted with those two calls. I mean, I want a fair shake for all teams and may the better team that day win.The Pass Interference call was as criminal as the Polamalu interception that was overturned. I can't believe I just said that....haha Actually I can.

Yeah, because a team has never scored on a kickoff return in the waning seconds of a playoff game to avoid defeat (see: the '99 Titans playoff game against Buffalo).

How is that whining?

I also cracked up at Belichick's responses in that press conference. You can tell he was doing everything to not go off. Plus, he looked like he wanted to cry because of the loss. :P

It's not.I have no doubt that his emotions got the best of him, and he's not Mr. Personality to begin with. But for a guy that's been in the NFL as a long and who by his own admission benefitted from the tuck rule (which obviously would have negated that first SB), I think the best HC in the NFL could have handled it more graciously. I suppose on second thought it wasn't really whining.

It was a legitimate gripe but it classified as whining by these boards. Much like the "whining" the Colts did after their WRs were mugged a few years ago.It sucks to be on the wrong end of a poorly officiated game.As much as I wanted my Colts to win yesterday, I was literally sick after THE Overrule. What a disgrace.I say to go replay on every obvious error. Have the head referee work from the booth. It can be done. And add a camera that runs directly over the goalline on a cable and get the goalline calls right for once!Just my $0.02

For the record, I agree the Pats got hosed.
