Benching PIT Def... (1 Viewer)

Due to a Charlie Batch staring at QB and Hines Ward possibly slowed by injury this week coupled with an (expected) improved Miami offense, I am benching the PIT Def this week in favor of BAL def versus Tampa. I was actually a little surprised that Dodds Week 1 projection for the PIT Def was as high as it is.

I know Pit will run the ball a lot, but against the Miami Def they'll have to throw some to move the ball. I think there's a high probability that Batch gives Miami a short field a couple times, if not more. That makes me feel very uncomfortable starting PIT this week.

Agree/Disagree??? Wondering if I'm way off here.

Disagree. I think the Steelers D is a good start any week against any opponent. The reason you'll get a hard time from some about this post is that it really belongs in the Assistant Coach's forum.Welcome to FBG. :welcome:

I agree. If ever there was a week to start the Pitt D it is this week. They have to step it up to keep them even with the Dolphins. The Steelers D will be ready to play.

BTW WDIS = Who Do I Start, and yes it should be in the Assistant Coaches Forum. Now you have been educated, don't let it happen again. :D

And WSIS = Who Should I Start.Same thing. And BTW, BTW = by the way.

I realize I am a homer but I agree with EbTide: the Steeler defense knows they are going to have to control this game and they will be ready.

Before the game tonight there are all kinds of things going on to get the crowd fired up. And when they introduce the Steelers as the SB Champs Heinz Field is going to be rocking. I expect to have a very sore throat tomorrow.

With the crowd noise, the Steelers defense pumped and Culpepper's first real game since last year, I think the Steelers defense is a good play.

They were actually pretty friendly about it. It is in the wrong forum. What's the big deal?

:lmao: Yes... we're all terribly lonely losers because we try to keep "who should I start" threads from flooding the forum that many of us check for the most up to date fantasy football info on the web. That's CLEARLY a logical leap to make..... if you're 15.

i am benching Pitt Defense and starting Chicago instead.
Why in the hell would anyone stock two of the top 5-6 Defenses? How much did you have to reach to be able to land them both? Whatever it was it seems like it would be ridiculous to burn two picks that early on defenses. Curious as to how this came about...

You might want to ask him about his scoring system before making such a statement. We don't all play by the same rules. My league gives big points to the d's. He's got to of the better scoring d's in the league. He also keeps others from having one of them. Depending on the scoring system and size of the roster, it could be a great move.

If the scoring system favors D's greatly then even more reason to question why he's rostered two of the best. If he's only starting one (most likely) then he likely had to burn two critical mid-round picks to get two defenses of that caliber. I understand a "blocking" move but not at the expense of a pick where you're still grabbing starters... he could be getting a great RB with upside or adding WR depth.... or even grabbing a QB in that range. I just can't imagine a scenario in any reasonable size or reasonably compeititve league where anyone would end up with those two D's.I'm not knocking the guy.. just curious to hear more about the logic behind it. Sorry if it comes off as an attack.... it ain't :)
