Bengals best trade option for QB? (3 Viewers)

It’d be interesting to see Joshua Dobbs get another shot someplace after watching him fill in MIN a couple years ago. But I doubt NE is interesting in dealing Maye’s backup.

CIN needs someone who can move & throw on the run right now.

Part of me agrees with others here that the season is lost... why bother trading for a QB only to kill your 2026 draft position. On the other hand, that divisional may be winnable with 9-10 wins with the Ravens shipping sinking quickly.

Wilson's moon ball might be able to remind them why they paid Tee Higgins?

As an owner of C. Brown, J. Chase, and T. Higgins in many leagues because I was soooo hooked on the "Burrow is going to pass for 5500 yards" my answer is...

...anyone but Browning.

I'm not sure there are any acquirable QBs that have any real connection to the offensive coaching staff. Taylor was a WR/QB coach for the Rams 7 years ago and Dan Pitcher (OC) has been with the Bengals for a decade in various roles.
Thanks to the many that stuck to the original question. Interesting that the first reply was the best! What I'm hearing is that nobody has a connection, and therefore even if they did chose to make a move it would take a while for the new guy to get acclimated.
Style points to Deamon for thinking "inside" the box.

Thanks, all. I appreciate the collective intelligence of the community!

My apologies if I didn't stick strictly to the original question, but the answer is akin to dividing by zero.

Matt Corral? I think he plays in Canada. Taylor Heinicke? Will Grier? Drew Lock? Sam Howell? Due to our o-line, I would prefer someone who can roll out of the pocket or is mobile.

I do not really like any of the options out there. Cousins is too expensive, and I do not want to deal with Russ Wilson's baggage.

I'll go ahead and say it Flacco>>>>Browning. Flacco wasn't good with the Browns this season, but Chase/Higgins is a lot different than Jeudy/Tillman. Truthfully, Flacco never really crossed my mind, as I figured the Browns wanted to keep him as at least an experienced vet to mentor the rookie QB(s)

I would have slightly preferred Russ, but I don't think much separates him and Flacco.

I think Flacco hasn't been near as bad as his numbers say. He was really bad against the Ravens (back when they were a good/healthy defense) in week 2, but other than that, I think he's been decent to good. I thought he played well against the Bengals in week 1 and got let down by his teammates who had 4 drops. I thought he played a good 4th quarter against Green Bay getting them the win when they needed him, and I thought he played ok against the Lions, where again his pass catchers were dropping everything. Flacco could/should have had 3 TDs in that game.

Chase was gonna be fine regardless, but I think this trade could really help provide a more stable floor for Higgins and Brown.

A porous O-line with an immobile QB seems like a bad combo. The Bengals would have been better served with a QB who stands a greater shot at evading the pass rush.

How long does it take a veteran NFL QB to pick up a new offense and be playable?
any similarities in offensive coaching staff for CLE and CIN? I would think he could play this week if needed, but they might wait a week, they have other guys who can play, not like he is coming into a zero QB room.

The only way this is a good thing is if he wins a few games and Burrow comes back to get them to the playoffs. If they don't make the playoffs and he still wins a few games then they just ruined the 2026 draft.

What is this, week 6? Give it a week for Flacco to get integrated, so he starts week 7. I'll go conservative here and say that by week 9 the Bengals starting QB is Jake Browning.

Both Stefanski and Taylor are from the Shanahan tree. So, the offenses probably have somewhat similar reads/calls.

For a 20-30 place pick slide late in the draft? Sure what the heck

50-55 pick I guess as it is the Lions round 6. Still why not. Knows the division and smart enough to pick up the system quick I would think.

Also think this would put Zac on watch officially.

I watched those Bengal and Raven games and yes, there were some drops, but that's because Flacco's passes weren't perfect so about half the blame is on him. A lot of his throws were high or low which made it tougher for the receivers to catch them. I believe two of his INTs were tipped by the receiver trying to catch a pass that was a little off.

Embarrassing.

People get paid to make these decisions. What is wrong with this organization?!!??!!

I signed a lifetime contract in blood, so I'm stuck.

The Bengals line has been bad. First things first will be him calling out protections and improving that. Browning was clearly not effective at this.

Chase and Higgins are eons better than what he's had at WR. We can't pretend it's similar.

Yoshi seems ignored like he's just to block and get in the way/pick and such. Flacco throws to the open man. It'll be interesting to see how many passes he gets.

It's still gonna come back to the OL and if they're fixable. It's such a big nuisance.

I bet they wish they traded Browning this offseason now.

It's absolutely ridiculous and borderline offensive that they don't just add AJ McCarron. He was a good soldier for what a decade? Went to the UFL saying he just wants to play before it's too late/too old and absolutely rocked as a good NFL player should. Rumors of him signing with Titans and Bengals two off-season. He finally went on a podcast and said he spoke with the teams and he doesn't want to be in practice getting five snaps a day or less and counted on in the film room and talking with DBs and WRs in theirs. He did it for a long time and was a good boy but now he only wants to play. He came to terms with he may never again. The Bengals trained him for so long and consistently said what a great teammate he was. This IS the improbable scenario in which he could play. I'd be so angry if I was a Bengals fan. They sold him as this fan favorite teammate favorite backup for years. It's like they cancelled the TV show before the final season
