Bengals-Browns Weather (1 Viewer)

Cleveland locals can chime in but this looks like it could be brutal. Houshmandzadeh owners and maybe Edwards owners need to watch this closely.

From RotoWorld:

The National Weather Service is calling for falling temperatures throughout the day Sunday in Cleveland with shifting winds out of the West reaching 30 miles per hour and possibly more.

Owners of Housh and Braylon Edwards will want to keep an eye on the weather, as winds of 30 mph are more than enough to shut down the arms of Ken Dorsey and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

All true Cleveland locals will attest, what's projected on Friday may not be the case come Sunday, especially during winter.

Hopefully one of the others will be online Sunday morning to give you an updated report. I won't be around or else I would, but the weather is expected to be quite awful. Not Buffalo/Cleveland 07 awful but bad enough you won't want to start any non RB's or DEF/ST in this game.

Glad you brought up this game. I've been wrestling with the idea of starting the Cincy defense because of how bad Cleveland is and how bad the weather is supposed to be. So I went back to see what kind of stats I might expect. The following is from BOTH teams:Sacks = 1Interceptions = 0Fumble recoveries = 0Defensive scores = 0Safeties = 1So unless you get a nice bonus for shutouts (or low points allowed), a game like this would have been a big disappointment if you took the risk on a medicore defense. This information may have me looking elsewhere for a DT/ST for championship week.

My inclination would be to play a D/ST if the weather is supposed to be horrible. The wind will cause passes to drift into DBs hands and the cold and snow makes it harder for RBs to hold onto the ball. Low scores are another benefit. Am I missing something?

If the weather is terrible I would think that would FAVOR a defensive play here...? What is the logic? That it will be a game with 99% running?

Cleveland has actually been not too bad on defense. Scored 11 points last week in my league. They do allow points but are getting turnovers (I count 26) sacks (18) DTD (3). And I just can't see the Bengals lighting them up for a lot of points. Fitzy has to be good for a turnover or two, doesn't he?

I was really considering going with them this week in the superbowl...

You don't need 30 mph winds to shut down the gunslinger. I'm pretty sure if you got a small section of the crowd to all blow at the same time, he'd be in trouble.

I guess my concern is the lack of actual defensive stats - sacks and turnovers. Not all of us have leagues with points against scoring so we're kind of dependent on those stats to put up considerable points at the DT/ST position.

My league gives a bonus for shutouts and low scores help alot too. Bad weather or not I like this game working out in my favor.
