Benson Arrested Again (1 Viewer)

Do we have any other links? Not that I don't trust PFT.... well OK I just don't really trust everything I read at PFT.

Man this kids just begging to have Rodger suspend him. Funny thing is I was just looking over a few of my dynasty rosters and considered cutting Adrian Peterson. I think I'll hold onto him for a while longer and see how this Benson debacle turns out 1st.

If this doesn't make Matt Forte the odds on favorite to start in Chitown, I don't know what will.

Benson needs to thank his lucky stars the Bears ownership is too cheap to walk away from all that guaranteed money they gave Benson.

Me too - he was workmanlike and below average carrying the ball as a starter (no burst or wiggle), but caught enough passes to be a viable play down the stretch, especially in PPR leagues. If you don't believe in Forte, Peterson should be a trade/WW target right now.

Just to solidify the Bears success at drafting RB's...please see Rashaam Salaam and Curtis Enis.

And now you can add Cedric Benson to the list. It is almost like the Madden curse.

They should have told Thomas Jones the year before he left. "Hang on we're going to have to go with Benson. If he sucks you get the job."

Jones did not leave on his own accord, he was traded to the Jets.

This very well could be the last straw for Benson. 2 DUIs in a month! Definately doesnt help his case on the first one. I'm not a big Forte fan but Benson is quickly digging his own grave.

This should speed up the transition to Forte. I've called him overrated and said he's probably not a starter caliber talent in the long run, but he's absolutely capable of putting up numbers when given the opportunity.

Agreed. I don't see Benson staying out of trouble or off the booze either if he gets a suspension. The guy just doesn't get it. I'm not a big CHI OL fan so I'm not sure I want any Bears RBs. Does anyone have an inkling of what their OL will be like this year?

Rotoworld) Bears RB Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with drunken driving in downtown Austin, Texas.

Impact: Benson was stopped for a traffic violation and refused a breathalyzer and blood test. On the heels of Benson's BWI incident, the rogue running back may be more trouble than he's worth to the Bears. It's going to be tough to overlook the continued off the field woes of a player who has also been underwhelming on the field.

Dont lawyers tell their clients not to take those? Once you refuse to do it they automatically arrest you.

ETA: There not even a mention of him taking a FST? thats kinda odd.

These stories never cease to amaze me.

Benson could be the first player in sports history to get DUIs driving a boat and a car in the same offseason.

rate the FA's...

as of now, in order:

a)KJones

b)SAlexander

c)other

d)THenry

let's call it 45-30-15-10

somebody gets signed....Forte and AP(lite) aren't going to be it @RB in CHI-town

Anyone know if he was coming from a strip club or if a stripper was in the car? We have increased league fines if a player is arrested and there is a stripper or strip club involved. :pics:

I can't see why the Bears wouldn't look at all the available free agents; unless they're really sure Forte will be the man and I don't see how they could have the feeling yet about him one way or another.

One if by land, two if by sea... good thing Ced Benson ain't rostered by me. :DDoes Ced have a pilot's license? Maybe he can go for the trifecta!

Boat

Car

????

What's next- going for the trifecta

Edit - CP beat me to it

I think he thought that it worked so well the first time he would try it again.

#3 comes on his bicycle. He's going to lose his license at this rate. Interested to see what the Bears say about this, won't be more than a few days until we hear something, right?

2nd the Lamont Jordan idea if I'm the Bears; I think he's a better bet than SAlex, Henry, KJ. They may wait until camp cuts, though.

So assuming that Forte is given the opportunity (no FA acquired), who would you rather have: Kevin Smith or Matt Forte?

Interesting twist on the Lamont Jordan possibility is that he's still being held by the Raiders due to Al Davis' irrational fear that Denver will swoop in if he's released and use him to beat the Raiders (Note to Al -- everyone already beats the Raiders anyway). Since Al will do anything to avoid Jordan going to DEN, he might trade him to CHI for basically nothing if CHI is interested (assuming Jordan would be smart enough to allow work done on his contract since the alternative is release anyway).

Most lawyers don't tell their clients not to take a breathalyzer anymore - unless that client is a multiple offender and might end up getting years in jail for failing.

Hi Jason,I'm sure they'll look at all the guys out there. I'd be shocked if this morning there wasn't a call into Chicago from agents for Henry, Jones, Alexander etc. Or more accurately, it was probably a follow up call after the call they made after the boat trouble. I just have a goofy good feeling about Forte. Totally can't back it up other than gut feel. I just like the kid.J

Joe: Kevin Smith or Matt Forte? what does the gut say?

Looks like the idiot ignored Earl Campbell's advice and further cemented his reputation in the football world.

Sad to see someone who once had so much promise throwing it all away little by little.

Hi g,Right now, Kevin Smith I think. Some things still have to happen for Forte. But I love the kid's upside.J

I am sure it is an irrational fear. I think Denver might be interested in Jordan if was available. I have no doubt that he has more skill than Pittman. I agree that trading him to Chicago for next to nothing would probably be best case scenario for both teams.

I think KJ would be a good fit for the Bears, plus he will not command top dollar right now. Alexander is just collecting a paycheck, and Henry is too skittish in his behavior.

I think that Jordan could put up some nice numbers in the Denver offense. Al Davis has reason to be concerned. If Jordan were to step in to that Bronco offense and outperform any of the Raiders backs, which is possible, Davis really looks like an idiot. I believe the Raider offense will split carries between Fargas, Bush, and McFadden. Jordan would only have to beat out Pittman, Young, that rookie, and Andre Hall. None of those guys have defensive coordinators quaking in their boots. Although I don't think the Denver line is quite as formidable as it once was either. In the first four games last year, before his back started acting up, Jordan averaged 138 total yards per game. He only had 2 TDs, but still that is pretty solid. It would have been interesting to see how he would have performed over the course of the year if he had stayed healthy. As a Bear fan I'd love to see Jordan in a Bears uniform, provided he doesn't like to cocktail and drive home.

It's just so unbelievable to me that a guy would be out drinking AND DRIVING at 3 AM, within a few weeks after the whole boating incident. How do people like Benson think like this? Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid!!!

He's like Devin Hester off the field... only he slurs and he may be even tougher to take down than on the field.
