Bernard Pollard (1 Viewer)

How did they end up flat out cutting this guy, not even trading him, just releasing him? Does anybody know what they didn't like? He had 78 solo tackles for them in 2008.

He is a baller in Rodney Harrison type mold. He's a beast.

Another of Haley's mind #### games backfiring on him.

However, while Pollard was here in KC, he was terrible in coverage and missed a ton of tackles. He made some big plays, but was maddening to watch all the missed tackles.

The light switch must have turned on for him once he got cut and he decided to start playing better.

Call it the Shaquille O'Neal Syndrome. Unfortunately this happens to the frustration of many teams who invest time, money and draft picks into guys. You're seeing a version of this with Vick, and I wonder if it applies to Tomlinson too.

CBS sports:

News: Texans DB Bernard Pollard was held to one tackle and one pass defense in Week 10 against the Jaguars. The one tackle was by far a season low for Pollard, who has 75 tackles and no interceptions in nine games. Analysis: Pollard has had to make a ton of plays in the secondary this season since the Texans front seven have let up a lot of big plays. It just happened in Week 10 that the Jaguars chose to pick on CB Glover Quin, so Pollard's chances of making plays were reduced. He is still a good play in Fantasy IDP leagues until further notice.

When in doubt, make something up. :no:The Jags had 36 rushing attempts and 31 passing attempts. The majority of those rushing attempts were between the tackles, which is ordinarily in Pollard's wheelhouse. Though the Texans have been running more Tampa-2 lately to take the pressure off their struggling corners, Pollard is still seeing plenty of time in the box. Targeting Quin had little to do with Pollard's box score. Opponents have been targeting the HOU secondary all year long. The 1-0 is pretty misleading. Pollard probably could've gotten credit for another tackle or two and deserved an assist on a couple of plays as well. He looked a little more tentative overall this week, which I think is related to the coverage concerns. He also dropped an INT in the back of the end zone. Pollard gets the Jets, Titans (twice) and Ravens in the next five weeks. This week's effort was painful, but I'd be shocked if it's the beginning of a trend.

Pollard can't cover at all. He's terrible. Which is probably the main reason KC cut him.

He's a beast in the box and a tackle machine. Mix in the Texans awful secondary and you have the recipe for a nice IDP.

There's the answer. He's just an extra linebacker, really.

Micheal Lewis, Roy Williams...just a couple of fantasy beasts who were seemigly always in danger of losing their jobs due to their lack of coverage skills. Keep in mind that Houston has by far the worst overall secondary in the league and the best players in fantasy arent necessarily the best players on the field (this is exponentially true for db's). One more thing, everyone talks about Haley's games--they seemed to be working quite well--look at DJ. The Chiefs have become a good team with a lot of young talent--and Haley deserves some credit for the job he is doing.

Is this thread actually real?

Pollard is absolutely terrible. Beyond horrible. I couldn't be any less surprised that Houston is on pace for the worst pass defense IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL with him in the lineup.

I'll give you a shocking news: The thread clearly was referencing REAL NFL and not Fantasy Football. So the guy you thought you were owning in some way was actually posting within the context of the discussion. There's you "a" shocking news. Here's a not so shocking news: Pollard is about ready to be benched on my Fantasy team, because he's been sucking at both of late. In his defense, the Titans offense was so stagnant that it really wasn't very conducive for tackles this week, but he's certainly stalled these past few weeks after a very good start.

I think the Chiefs are OK with having Eric Berry in his place. Seriously, Pollard is the worst coverage safety in the league.

I was really surprised when the Chiefs cut him. I had to cut him to. I couldn't afford to carry a free agent IDP.

Agreed he is terrible in coverage. Really another Roy Williams. But it seems there will always be room in some defense for a ballhawk like that.
