Berrian owners - What do you think about his preseason struggles? (1 Viewer)

Berrian was one of the most talked about names a few weeks ago when it was revealed that Sidney Rice was going to be out indefinitely. It appeared as though Berrian would be in a great position to put up some good numbers this year now that he's healthy, Rice being out of the picture for quite some time, and Favre's return.

Yet reports coming out of preseason have suggested that Berrian has struggled immensely, which is a cause for concern for all his owners. Does any Vikings homers have any input? Has Berrian really looked THAT bad?

Any Viking homers with an opinion?

IMO Berrian has the talent to be a 1B WR and really shocked that his stock did not seem to rise after Rice went down. He was also the Viking go to WR in the NFC championship game last year, has he been that bad this pre-season?

Rumors of a TJ Housh sighting, assuming true, are a bad sign of what the Vikings think of Berrian's production to this point.

Not a Vikings homer but I am cautiously optimistic regarding Bernard. The opportunity is certainly there but as an owner, I don't give him too much of a leash. If he looks as terrible as he has in the pre-season I'll be willing to drop him for the hot waiver wire free agents after week one or two.

That said he looked good in the NFC game so I'm hoping he rises to the occasion. Certainly curious if any homers have some insight.

berrian will still be the deep threat. i guess he will lose just about all of the middle routes tho. that may be the case anyway, with the signing of camarillo.

your window of trading him for something more than you could have a month ago is closing in 3..2...

I think us Berrian owners are stuck for at least the first couple of weeks of the season. You don't want to cut him loose and watch him catch fire on someone else's roster, yet you really can't trust him enough to toss him out there in your starting lineup.

Vikes wont pay the Houshy price tag so I doubt we'll see him in the picture. Berrian may need more time to get in sync with Favre - they need harvin and camarillo to work the slot and intermediate routes so berrian can stretch the field like Rice did.

I picked up Berrian and agree he looks like crap so far. But its too early to drop him - I really think he'll come around. When AP starts pulling 8 in the box - Berrian will find room to excel.

starting lineup? get real.

I was worried enough, and he was unimpressive enough in that 3rd game that I went ahead and unloaded him last night. Traded Berrian & Hillis for an injured Michael Bush, but I'm in very good shape at WR and need some RB depth.

I've pretty much always hated the guy. He was overrated in Chicago, got himself a huge contract, and so far has been beat out by just about everybody that has stepped up in Minnesota. With Camarillo signing on, and now the Housh rumors, I feel like I'm safe to cut bait.

:goodposting: High upside late round pick as a WR4 in a start 2 league. I'll see what I get before making any decisions on him. If he's nothing more than a bye week filler, I will have still gotten what I paid for him.

He'll have huge games and he'll have bad games this year, the guy's game stats depend on one or two deep balls which makes him inconsistent like Lee Evans.

Here's the deal with the Housh situation. The Seahawks ate the contract. If a team signs Housh for less then the 7mil then the 'Hawks have to make up the difference. Now Housh isn't in the Twin Cities, but the Vikes only have FOUR WRs. Something is going to happen in the next few days, but your guess is as good as mine at this point. Until Judd reports the plane is on the ground my feeling is Housh is a bit of a long shot.

As far as Housh's buddy Bx2 goes, I'm at a loss. Part of me pulls out all the excuses like even last year it took Brett a few games to get on the same page with the WRs, or B-twice just hasn't really been out there for a ton of series to be able to get into a good flow. I understand last year because his game is speed and he had two injured hamstrings almost all year long. However, this year the word is that BB had a great offseason and camp so expect great things. Then I see him have a few 10 yard passes bounce off his chest. Even on deep routes it doesn't seem like he's creating separation or playing the ball well. It's like, "Sid would have made a cut and attacked that ball and BB doesn't even try." I really had high hopes that he could have a bounce back season now that he's healthy, but my pessimism is really growing. BB is still Chily's guy and they will call plays to give him every opportunity to put up a good stat line at the end of the day. I'm still not ready to throw in the towel, because of the supporting cast and his value isn't exactly high in the first place. You wont find a better starting WR on a solid offense at where he's going anytway, so you can afford to stash him and see what happens when the games count and Brett gets into the flow of the game. Even if Housh were to come to this team it doesn't mean that he will have the playbook down in a week and unseat BB(I think he showed that in Seattle), so his value right now isn't going to get any lower. His ceiling could still very well be a solid #2WR/Flex, but my gut feeling is we'll end up with more floor then ceiling. The floor is he will be a feast or famine type of guy that will have enough big games to make the stat line look good at the end of the year, but you wont start him because the last three weeks he just burned you with 35 yards or less per week (excluding injury).
