Full disclosure, I'm brewing a blackberry sauce for a "from scratch" cheesecake recipe.

8000 calories of awesomeness.

I went off the board and will say thimbleberry.

I like the flavor but it could also be the circumstances when you consume them. It's always a pleasant surprise, usually on a hike in the mountains or along the coast or in my case growing up in Oregon, both of those. You only get a few at a time so each one is appreciated more than those sold in plastic containers at the store. Tastes a bit like a wild raspberry but the drupelets and seeds are smaller. Also known as a "rubus parviflorus", but not by anyone I've ever hiked with. I've experienced them between northern California to British Columbia but they can be found as far east as the great lakes.
