Best albums of 2017 - Playlists in post #1 (1 Viewer)

We have a top songs thread going... Come and check it out

I completely missed that there was a new Unsane record a couple months ago.  Giggity! :excited:  I don't care if they put out the same record 15 times, I will listen to and enjoy all of them.

Side note, unrelated.  @rockaction and @El Floppo and whoever else has listened to that Idles record a bunch:

What are we going with as the interpretation of what that drunk girl yells to kick off the record?  I always want it to be LOU FERRIGNO!!     I know that isn't it, but it's close enough that it's what my mind hears every time.

It's "No Surrender," but you had me convinced for a moment.

   definitely.

btw... I'm just finding Oxbow's new album- thin black duke. if somebody mentioned already in here, they needed to wave my way to it earlier.

I keep coming back to Waxahatchee new album. So, so underrated.

Yeah, me too... I still like some of the songs, but after their last one I am a bit let down.  I've said it elsewhere in this thread, but the White Reaper album is pretty much what I was hoping the new Japandroids would have been

I don't remember you saying that, but I like it.

I had the same feeling about the album- first single dropped and I thought.. yay! album dropped, meh. but that best songs of the year draft had a lot of great japandroids tunes on it... guess I just forgot the rest of the stuff being below that level.

I'll set up the poll in the next week or so, but spoiler alert: Lorde is my #1 as well.

As of this moment, I'm going with a top ten (in order) of: Lorde, LCD Soundsystem, Spoon, Phoenix, Charly Bliss, Stars, Japandroids, Father John Misty, New Pornographers, Alvvays.

That album by Phoenix was surprisingly good. I need to check out Alvvays, LCD Soundsystem, Father John Misty soon.

Different tastes etc... obviously I don't think the Japandroids album was a disappointment. I don't think it's as good as Celebration Rock obviously, but I looooove 'Arc of Bar' and I think that both 'Near to the Wild Heart of Life' and 'No Known Drink or Drug' hold up with their best songs. I also saw them in the front row of an amazing show playing all the songs from the new album and I'm sure that's influenced me to some extent.

My biggest let downs are Arcade Fire, War on Drugs, Rural Alberta Advantage and Future Islands.

Celebration Rock is my album of the century (so far), so my disappointment is relative. Their new one will still be right near #10 in my top 20 list. That being said White Reaper is one of the 6 or so I currently have tied for 2nd this year :bag:

My 2 fav albums from this year are:

Touch- July Talk

Is This the Life We Really Want- Roger Waters
