Best Network for HD Football (1 Viewer)

This is my first weekend with HD and I was wondering how people would rank the 4 networks on their HD coverage?

So far it seems to me that Fox is the best, with NBC a little bit behind and CBS way behind.

Fox,NBC,CBS then NFL network. CBS is good sometimes but everyweek atleast 4 of their games are not HD. Last week the Colts wasnt. Thank goodness because i didnt like what i saw when it wasnt clear

Thanks for the replies. I'll check ESPN tonight, but I thought CBS (SD-DEN) game did not look as sharp as the FOX and NBC games.

If you are going quality of broadcast vs quantity its:

1) CBS

2) ESPN

3) FOX

4)

5)

6) NFL-HD

7)

8)

9)

10) NBC-HD

If you are on DirecTV, they down-res the CBS signal from 1920x1080i to 1280x1080i. That's why CBS would appear to be behind Fox/ESPN. Also if you have a 720p native tv (as most DLPs are) then that may be a reason FOX/ESPN look better. NBC is absolutely terrible and should be ashamed of their product.

This will sound dumb, but I think CBS has the best sound quality.

My surround sound seems to sound better on CBS games. Then ESPN/FOX

and NBC stinks all around

I don't know who could possibly have NBC anything but dead last. It is absolutely horrible. It's so choppy it gives me a headacha.

ESPN and FOX are both pretty solid.

CBS is Decent

and NBC is pathetic

:goodposting: CBS cable and CBS satellite are different.p.s. you don't have NBC low enough :D

FOX then ESPN then CBS then NBC. The first two are in 720p, which are better for fast moving images such as sports. The latter two are 1080i, which show more detail, but lag a bit with fast moving objects.FOX and ESPN have the best video for sports, but FOX has better production quality, plus broadcasts most, if not all, games in HD.CBS production quality is good and static images are great, but moving images blur a bit and they only broadcast their better matchups in HD.NBC is over-produced and the graphics are distracting.

Seems like I have to wait for the playoffs till I see a CBS game in HD.

Surprised on the low opinions on NBC. I always thought the pitcure was very good.

the Colt/Jags game was broadcast on CBSHD but wasnt broadcast in HD

so far for me the FOX affiliate i get OTA is by far the best pic

FOX

ESPN/ABC

CBS

NBC (it varies from week to week, last week was horrible, last night was pretty good; I like their sound the best, however)

Hmm...didn't know that. I'm on Time Warner. And no, I don't get the NFL Network. Thanks for your concern.

Just a note, you're going to see variations city to city and carrier to carrier, especially with NBC. NBC runs a multi-cast subchannel, WeatherPlus. It takes about 2 mbps away from the main NBC bandwidth, which theoretically maxes out at 19mbps. So if your NBC affil. multicasts you're starting with only 90% of the available bandwidth best case scenario. This results in blocking and blurring of the images when things move quickly, as well as "swimming grass" syndrome.

Wow, great info! Thanks. And I put ESPN right up there with Fox. In my view for the games yesterday, NBC was the 2nd tier and CBS a distant 3rd, but it sounds like NBC is more up and down than CBS. Super Bowl is on CBS this year, FWIW.
