Best options for streaming recent movies and tv shows? (1 Viewer)

May have been discussed in the past but couldn't find threads by searching. What are the best options to watch newer movies and complete tv series? The wife wants to catch up on shows like Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad, Law & Order SVU, Homeland, and even some shows from the 70s and 80s.

From my limited knowledge, it sounds like streaming sights like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime don't have much for current movies to stream, and not all tv shows have the entire run. For example, Netflix appears to only have 5 years in the middle years of L&O SVU.

It sounds like there might be more newer movie releases through Netflix DVD program, but you can only have one disc out at a time, not an entire season out at a time.

We have tried to watch some of the tv shows on Comcast on-demand, but they don't have every season or every episode and a lot of the content might have to be purchased one episode at a time.

What are people doing these days to catch up on shows? Is there a service to watch newer movies AND full series runs of tv shows? It also sounds like not every service carries every show, so that would be the suxor if you still needed multiple streaming services to watch what we wanted to watch.

Are there ways to search an entire library of what these services have available? Netflix doesn't really give you that option as a non subscriber.

I don't think any one service will have everything you're looking for. We got the roku and through that get Netflix for 8 bucks a month. On the roku you have access to vudu.com where you can purchase newer movies as well as season's of different tv shows. (Game of thrones is on there) There's a few other apps you can get on the roku to further supplement yourviewing like crackle, hulu, etc.

Depending on your stance on streaming free from European sites where you can watch anything and everything you may want to do some research on the Google. I hear it is possible to sit on your (couch) and (tuner) anything you want.
