I'm a HUGE RUSH fan, but but have pretty much only listened to tunes from Grace under Pressure and before. I do like a few tracks from Presto however. Are you a new fan looking for songs to check out or an existing fan merely curious as to what the favorites are of other fans?
I didn't think Available Light was popular among most Rush diehards. I remember listening to that track a lot in college. From each album...

Available Light is pretty popular amongst online fans, which albeit is a small percentage of the overall fan base. It was frequently mentioned in the last decade as a song diehards wanted to see played live , although, despite loving the song, I was never in that camp since I was afraid Geddy's aging live voice would have butchered that chorus.I didn't think Available Light was popular among most Rush diehards. Test for Echo is not a bad record, but it doesn't have anything really notable on it. And the band clearly agrees since it is their only album that didn't get any representation on the last four tours they did. Also interesting that you mention Test for Echo as your least favorite because that's where their music started to veer away from me as well. I am nowhere near as familiar with the last four albums as I am with everything from Counterparts back.
To me, Clockwork Angels is one of their best albums overall- just behind Moving Pictures and Signals. Every song on it is pretty good to great and the back-to-back trio of Clockwork Angels/ The Anarchist/ Carnies is just amazing. A heck of an album for their swan song.I'm a HUGE RUSH fan, but but have pretty much only listened to tunes from Grace under Pressure and before. I do like a few tracks from Presto however.
Again, thanks for posting! Some good stuff here!
Absolutely. I struggle to think of any band that recorded an album this good nearly 4 decades into their career. To me, Clockwork Angels is one of their best albums overall- just behind Moving Pictures and Signals. I thought "Driven" was really good live, and I'm a big fan of "Resist", but yeah.Test for Echo is not a bad record, but it doesn't have anything really notable on it. And the band clearly agrees since it is their only album that didn't get any representation on the last four tours they did.
Driven has that nice riff, which was great live, but the song never really takes off outside of it. And the lyrics are weak (as are many of the lyrics on that record, a rare hiccup for Neil post-70's).I thought "Driven" was really good live, and I'm a big fan of "Resist", but yeah.
That album with the production and sound of Counterparts (which sounds awesome) would have been just nuts.I need to give Clockwork Angels another chance. I agree on the production ... Everything just kind of blended together to me on early listens.
