Hells Bells by AC/DC.
I was already a fan of AC/DC before Back in Black was released. When Bon Scott (their original singer) died, all the fans thought the band was done. How could Bon be replaced? So us AC/DC fans buy the Back in Black lp when it comes out. We see the the black cover and the title: we already know this is a cool tribute to Bon.
Then we put the needle down and we hear the ominous bell at the beginning of Hells Bells...wow, what an amazing tribute!!! But it gets better, the opening guitar riff is an instant classic. Then we hear the new singer and he kicks serious ###. He is not Bon, but he has his own style.
This is why this is the best song intro ever. The band actually put a lot of thought and caring into this opener.
By the way, the rest of the album was great also.

You know, this one, while I respect it for it's importance in rock history, was never really candy to my ears. The ending instrumental though. That's a different story.

Fair enough - to each his own. Personally, I consider the opening to Layla one of the best guitar riffs of all-time.
