Best way to get out of jury duty? (1 Viewer)

also, don't register to vote and they won't find you. I wonder why we don't just make jury duty a job. just have professional jurors.

wa la.
Here in MA, the juror pool is pulled from the annual town census. Don't reply to the census and they will delete your name from the list of registered voters. But if you complete the town census, you're subject to jury duty whether you registered to vote or not.
That is not quite how it is done in MA. The census is part of it and there are cross references to voting rolls and taxes. If you are on any one of those lists, you can be selected at random.

Best bet to avoid jury duty is to show up smelling like you just sh!!!!t your pants. Go to the bathroom as frequently as possible. Your fellow jurors will be asking for your removal and you will have fulfilled the one-day portion of your service.
From the horse's mouf:

I'm not registered to vote. How did I get summoned for jury duty?

Many people mistakenly assume that the Office of Jury Commissioner obtains its list of potential jurors from voting lists, or driver’s registration lists. However, these lists are not as complete as the resident lists – not everyone is registered to vote, or drives a car. In order to guarantee everyone their constitutional right to participate in the jury system, the Office of Jury Commissioner uses resident lists provided by the Commonwealth’s cities and towns to summon jurors. This is why Massachusetts is thought to have one of the best jury lists in the country.
