Better Dynasty RB in 2007 (1 Viewer)

I've been talking trade with a guy in one of my dynasty leagues, and these are 2 RBs that I just can't decide their value moving forward. Obviously Benson's value is affected by T Jones. Does Jones still start next year? Could he be traded? Then McGahee, IMO, has underperformed, but the recent talk sounds like he wants out of Buffalo. But would be bounce back elsewhere? Will he really command much on the market?

Thoughts as to which back you'd rather have next year and why? :banned:

I'll go with McGahee.

Mainly because he is the featured back

and will get many more touches than Benson.

Touches usually = FF points

by this your assuming he will still be in buffalo, and that is a big assumption
Why would they let him go? He's their best Offensive weapon and by no means is he a distraction.T Jones is a FA after 2007 and I'd think the Bears will give Benson the fulltime 25+ touches per game gig at that point.Still, McGahee... only problem is his QB/OLine

T Jones is still under contract in 2007.

I meant after this coming season.

Two possibilities.a) He's in Buffalo.b) He's trade elsewhere. If a) then he's a feature back.If b), then you have to pretty much conclude that whichever team ponies up the capital to trade for McGahee is doing so because they want a feature back.Either way he's a feature back, and most situations are better than Buffalo right now.

anywhere besides probably AZ, Oak and maybe Houston would be an upgrade for McGahee. Buff's line got better but was still probably among the 5 worst lines in the league. Losman has gotten better as well but is still inconsistent. Benson isn't even definitely the starter yet and in his limited time he's looked ok but nothing fantastic. McGahee's more talented and is a definite starter. This shouldn't be close.

Both are good dynasty running backs and both play on running teams. I personally would give a slight edge with Mcgahee unless you are a Bears fan or Benson fan. I think Benson does have a higher ceiling if he's ever giving a chance to be the man.

Its a pretty good comparative value...McGahee vs. Benson. All I can say is watching Benson in the 2 playoff games...he looked really strong. Usually took 3+ definsive players to bring him down and he always seemed to churn for positive yards after initial hit. Personal preference I suppose at this point.

I would take McGahee no question. I like Benson, but McGahee doesn't get the credit he deserves for as good as he is. Bad offense in Buffalo (to include OL) has been his downfall. I think Buffalo's offense will improve though...McGahee would be a Top 5-10 back easily if he was on a different team with a good OL. When Buffalo finally gets smart and gets some talent in front of him there, he will blow up. Until then, I still see him as a better dynasty back then Benson. Benson has looked decent in his games however, its hard to get a real gauge on him since T. Jones is getting bulk of carries still....Defense has to prepare for 2 backs and I think that is an advantage for him....when defense's have to prepare for just him, things could be different.

Agreed. Just my opinion, and the Bears staff may disagree (which is probably the only opinions that matter), but I think T Jones is better than Benson.

is this just another reason to discuss benson?

considering benson isn't a full-time starter and mcgahee is, this shouldn't be a discussion.

It is worth discussing because the title included "dynasty". If it were just evaluating a comparison for 2007 season then McGahee is your guy. I think for dynasty considerations, its a pretty close race between these 2 guys.

McGahee is only 1 year older than Benson. He is a proven NFL starter and Benson is not. The only thing holding McGahee back is the team he is on and that can change.
