One of the local radio sports talk reporters here said that there is some unconfirmed rumors that the Rams were inquiring about Betts.

The Rams have been looking at a number of backups for Steven Jackson. I've never been particularly high on him this pre-season, as is well-documented, but now with the heel tendonitis situation I think the Rams are looking for ways to get some insurance in case the Achilles lets go. They may also want to keep him fresher by sharing out the work-load, hoping to keep the heel problem under control by not overstressing Jackson.

All just conjecture on my part, but looking at how other guys (Todd Pinkston, for example) have struggled to come back from tender Achilles tendons, I'm increasingly worried about Jackson.

My .02.

Pinkston is a bit of a drastic comparision though, wouldnt you agree?

WHy not he would be great to back up Jackson and spell him . Betts is a good RB .

He reminds me of Rudy Jhonson , it took Rudy a few years to get his cahnce you never know with the Rams he would be 1 injury away from being a steal. And Jackson is one back that is often injured.

Perhaps, it was just the first 2006 Achilles injury other than Jackson that popped in my head (remember, Pinkston's primary problem this year is with his previously uninjured Achilles, as well as swelling in the previously blown out one. I understand from reports that the more troublesome of the 2 is the previously uninjured one).Anyway, tendonitis is always tough to heal due to blood flow being restricted to tendons and the fact that just being alive (walking to the dinner table, etc.) puts stress on the body's ligaments and tendons. They never really get full rest unless someone is basically immobile...

Although it's totally unconfirmed at this point it wouldn't be that much of a surprise to see Betts moved ... the TJ Duckett signing gives the Skins a bruising goal line back whereas Betts is more in the mold of a speed type back I believe ... also the Skins have been giving Lumsden a look this preseason and he could just be impressing enough that with the TJ signing Betts may well be expendable ... pure speculation at this point! :coffee:

Betts' main problem is he is neither a power back nor a speed back. He has nice hands, but nothing sensational in the passing game. He's simply average.

I was thinking about this today, wondering where Betts might go and actually have the chance at some playing time, and the Rams seemed like a logical choice.

As a Portis-Duckett-Betts owner, I'd be quite happy about this.

Looking at this situation from a football perspective, depth at RB is a good thing. From a Fantasy Perspective I must say this could be a disaster. This could turn into the Vikings of a few years ago. Linehan? Check. Moe Williams? Check. Rushing TD's divided among about 9 different backs? Let's hope not. If they bring in Davis or Betts I can only envision saving SJax around the goal line and using these other guys.

In the inaugural draft of a Dynasty League I picked 10th and was hoping that the guy ahead of me would pass on Jackson. As a Rams homer I would've been giddy. He took Jackson and I took Edge (PPR so I'm fine with it), well now I'm looking at it and am pretty giddy that I missed out on SJax.....
