The Big 12 has a pretty poor record of QB's having success in the NFL. In fairness, much of the reason that this is the case, is because of the style of play years ago. But even so, we still haven't seen a single QB from the big 12 have a ton of success in the NFL.
Vince Young looked like he'd break the trend, but he regressed to the point where he is scary as a backup, imo.
Bradford, Freeman, McCoy -- Most still think Bradford will break out, but I still have my reservations. I think his success in year 1 was overrated. He still hasn't proven that he can be even a top 10-15 QB and he really regressed last year, as did Freeman.
I think RG3 is the first Big 12 QB to become a big star. I really do. But if I was betting, I would say that the other two (Tannehill and Weeden) are likely to struggle.
All you have to do is watch big 12 games to figure out why. Guys consistently are wide open. It's so very hard to know whether a guy will succeed in the NFL, just because he put up bigtime numbers in a conference known for pathetic defense.
Bottom line: I'd be very, very nervous taking Tannehill or Weeden.
