Roethlisberger a no-show at Steelers practice

Sunday, September 03, 2006

By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was nowhere to be found when the Steelers took the practice field at 3:30 p.m. today. The Steelers promised an answer from coach Cowher regarding the starting quarterback's absence when practice ends at 5:30 p.m.

I got that off a Steeler message board, they are saying hes in surgery, not sure for what.

From blackandgoldinsider.com:

BlackandGoldInsider.com will update you later this evening, but right now close sources tell us that Ben Roethlisberger is highly unlikely to play this Thursday against Miami in the season opener.

We are hearing that he is in surgury as we speak (nothing to related to Motorcycle Accident).

Note to self- add BustedKnuckles to ignore list

Good lord I'm going to catch hell for this one. I swear I just traded away Big Ben an hour before reading this post. The guy I traded him to is going to think I knew something. Kinda sucks. Oh well, better him than me.

I can see him now:

He got:

Big Ben

Thomas Jones

McCardell

Wiggins

I got:

Vick

TJ Houshmazillymamamazahdadah

McMicheal

I have a hard time taking the word of someone who can't even spell surgery.

Even if Big Ben is healthy you still got the better end of the deal. TJ and McMichael are huge upgrades. I would try to trade Vick he is overrated

if he's out time to hit the waiver wire for me. I have Favre as my other qb, but just can't see starting him against Chicago. If it's his appendix I wonder how long he'll be out.

Well, it wasn't him - it was the source he quoted.

Old story from NFL.com...Boerigter has appendix removed NFL.com wire reports RIVER FALLS, Wis. (July 28, 2002) -- Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mark Boerigter fell ill during training camp and had his appendix removed early on July 28. Boerigter was treated at a Minneapolis hospital, and the Chiefs said he might be able to return to practice as early as Aug. 2. "We talked to the doctors," coach #### Vermeil said. "It wasn't bad. He'll be fine. This was just a normal operation. They said he was in such great shape, it was relatively a minor operation. They said he could jog tomorrow."Eric Coleman (DB-Jets) just had an appendectomy and missed around 10 days of practice. Returned to the starting lineup after two weeks.

Please advise

1 - Miami at home

2 - At Jacksonville

3 - Bengals at home

4- Bye

He needs to be back for Bengal game. At least they got an early buy.

I'm guessing that he returns for the week 2 game. They'll skate by the Dolphins at home during week one so this shouldn't effect their season at all.
