Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (4 Viewers)

Indiana's very good. If they play like that night in and night out they can go far.

A few of MSU's weaknesses were exposed, most notably the lack of a second scorer. Appling averages double digits, but that number is largely padded by free throws at the end of wins. He needs to be more assertive. Also, Dawson and Payne just have to play harder. They both have the ability to be much better on defense than they are.

:goodposting: ...totally agree with all of this. Add Wood to the group of Dawson and Payne. This was a great opportunity for him to shine tonight. Was totally non-existent.

Another big win for IU and a great game by Draymond Green. He is probably my favorite player who plays for a team I don't root for.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Doc Sadler appreciated that booster who bought a full page add on the back of the OWH sports section last Sunday which stated the case for keeping Doc. He then led Nebraska to a scrappy effort as they scored 34 points in a college basketball game.

To put that in perspective, University of Nebraska at Omaha, who is in their first year in Division 1 basketball, scored exactly twice that many points against Sparty in their exhibition game earlier this year.

Michigan looks pretty good so far in the first half.

Of course, they just had to bring in Christian because of foul trouble - so this could change quickly.

Northwestern belongs in the NCAA tournament this year.
I agree, but they have to beat Iowa. Beat Iowa, then win 2 games in the tourney, hoping that 1 of the teams is an RPI top 50 team and they're in. Beat Iowa and win 2 games against the bottom dwellers.... 70/30 they're in IMO. They have a great RPI and pass that thing called the "eye test" that every committee member loves to use when determining the at large teams. Or, at least the committee members like to tell everyone that they love to use the "eye test."

Its not possible to play 2 bottom dwellers in the BTT. If they beat Iowa, they'll be the #7 seed and most likely draw Minnesota (#11) first round and then the #2 seed (Ohio St or Michigan) 2nd round. The consensus seems to be a win at Iowa and then over Minnesota, they have a very good chance of getting in. Two wins in the BTT (a win over Michigan/Ohio St) and they are a lock with an Iowa win Saturday.

Good point. Any team Northwestern would play in the 2nd round this year would a top 50 RPI team as well.

Huge win at Iowa for Northwestern!!! Down 15 early, and then took control with Shurna only scoring 8 points.

Pretty much give Northwestern a birth in the NCAA....Not seeing an 8th bid right now, unless Illinois, Iowa or Minnesota really makes some noise in the Big10 tourney.

It wasn't pretty at the end, but good win for Michigan. 13-5 in the Big Ten. Great season.

Now- GO OHIO!!

Awesome Teddy Valentine ref'ing the State game :X

The only thing better is Verne Lundquist on the call :X :X

The only time an OSU shooter has an MSU defender within 5 feet of him is when he's laying the ball in and the Spartan is fouling him.

3 Big 10 titles in a row for the Buckeyes! MSU and OSU should be looking at 2 seeds at this point.

Should be some nice seeds for the Big 10 teams which make it. Right now I can see two number 2s, a number 3, a number 4, a number 5, and number 7, and a number 11. The Big 10 tourney may shake up the seedings a bit, but not much. I hope Northwestern can make the most of it. Illini, congrats on the new coach.

That was too easy.
IU has played some of their best ball the last 2 games. How awesome would a run to say the sweet 16 be?
I think they are looking much better on defense for one thing. For a stretch, their defense was pathetic. Should be 4 Big 10 teams in the sweet 16. Really nice to see IU and Michigan programs getting back to where they should be. The Big 10 is loaded with good young coaches and great programs and have a hot bed of talent to feed on.

And the day goes from awful to worse...Branden Dawson torn ACL. No way MSU makes a tourney run without him.
Terrible news. Haven't followed MSU close enough to know how big of a deal this is but Izzo always brings his best game in the tournament. They have the Big 10 tournament to work things out a little bit.

He's their third or fourth best player and probably the best raw athlete. The problem is compounded by a lack of depth at forward.
