Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (5 Viewers)

Wow. Badgers really shut Zeller down in the 2nd half, even without Berggren in there. I couldn't have predicted this one. Big win for Bucky

 
I had little hope when IU got it down to 1 but UW really hit some big (and lucky) shots in the last four minutes. A huge win that will go a long way to getting them into the tournament.

In fairness, almost everyone has outcoached Crean for years
 
I'd bet there won't be a BIG team that gets out of conference play with less than 4-5 losses. Brutally tough conference. Love it!

Total misunderstanding. MSU has video that shows them simply chest-thumping themselves.
 
Watford mails it in a lot of the time. IU needs a second consistent shooter besides Hulls. Others have ability but are not doing it consistently. I'm a huge IU fan, but once WI closed in on Zeller, IU had no rebuttal from outside.

Seeing that it's a pretty clear travel, and Evans, who I think and one of my closest UW friends thinks is god awful, drills that shot gives them a huge momentum swing, I think I have a right to #####. Don't get me wrong, I want Evans taking that shot all day, just bad luck that he drills it the one time when he probably misses it the next 19 times.

I cannot believe how horribly Ahamnisi has played as the backup point guard since the start of the big ten season. He's horrible. Tubby has got to tell Andre Hollins to stop picking up cheap fouls in the early stages of the game. They are a good solid team who can play with anyone (not beat anyone, but play with anyone) when he's on the floor, but terribly mediocre when he's on the bench.

Tough not to get into foul trouble guarding Burke with the way he attacks the basket, cuts, stops/starts, etc. He is lightning out there. I loved the play where he darted right, moving past the defender near half court, the defender turns up court to race after him, but Burke darted back to his left and pulled up. He did it so quickly that defender couldn't help but just running right into him for an easy foul.

If you're talking about the play I'm thinking of, I remember it vividly. I had the sound turned down because I cannot stand those 2 but thought as soon as I saw that play that it was a seriously smart, vet move. It came right after Minnesota scored and was mounting a comeback. The crowd was going nuts and momentum was all Minnesota at that point. Burke noticed the guy was out of control so he drew the foul, immediately silencing the crowd and getting free shots out of the deal. It was like a timeout, but better and more effective.

Burke gets some of the credit, but this is the at least 3rd game of the B1G season that I've seen Dre get into early foul trouble. He doesn't understand the importance of him being on the court and takes way too many stupid fouls in relation his ability.

That was the play, it just stood out to me for how smart it was and for how quickly he was able to spin his defender around. For how fast Burke plays, he able maintain incredible control. He is always very aware of his surroundings and what his next move will be.

Burke gets some of the credit, but this is the at least 3rd game of the B1G season that I've seen Dre get into early foul trouble. He doesn't understand the importance of him being on the court and takes way too many stupid fouls in relation his ability.

It was really evident last night which team is both smarter and cooler. Gophers were losing control of their emotions at times. I'm not sure I have ever seen an ounce of emotion from Burke. He is a rock . Whether he makes 10 in a row or misses 10 in a row, he never looks affected.

And the B1G is loaded with coaches who are also great recruiters, and several who are very good coaches as well. That is why the B1G is going to be on top for a while.

That one guy was literally jumping up both feet in the air and stomping his feet like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum at the grocery store. Embarrassing.

Disagree. You'll get fouled a few seconds later anyway. Miss either free throw and it's a one-possession game. Have to take the sure 2-possession lead.

Yeah back down to earth for Wisky. Valiant effort at the end but one of the worst first halves I've ever seen did them in. I think they shot like 21% and were simply outplayed. Strange, they own Indiana yet can't seem to beat Iowa.

You think?Tom Crean beat 3 teams ranked in the top 5 last year. Who was the last coach to beat both #1 and #2 in the same season? I am just saying Bo Ryan has a great feel for what Crean wants to do in the game and counters it very well.
 
Never seen Wisconsin shoot that bad in my life. 29.6% from the floor, 38.9% from the line and Michigan State beats them by two.MSU played alright, didn't concede easy baskets, but if the Badgers hit anything they win that one.

 
Don't count Iowa as an easy win. They lost by a combined 8 to Indiana and mich st. Got killed byMichigan. The talent is way up in Iowa City. 3 freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior starting. And a junior and senior that used to get major minutes willing to play thugs. McCaffrey is not a bad coach either. The best two players are freshman although thebestscorer is the lone junior starter. 8,9, or 10 wins in conference just might happen. Not much for the big teams but a huge step for us.

Outside of Nebraska and Penn State, there are no nights off. Iowa is good enough to make the NCAA tourney, but they need to find 7 wins in the B1G, which looking at their remaining schedule they should. Michigan State on the other hand is off to a great start, but they have the toughest part of their schedule coming up. Lots of good basketball yet to be played.

Iowa impressed me against MSU considering Marble was out. If he plays they probably win.
 
Tonight Iowa shot 50percent free throws. Not going to win on the road like that. Ohio State won by 9 but led by as much as 23. So far Iowa has played Indiana, mich st. Michigan, nw, wispy, and Ohio st. Not easy so far.

Iowa schedule is relatively easy the rest of the way.
 
Tough road win for the Spartans. Ugly shooting pct. for both team at the end, but MSU pulled through. Getting W's on the road is a bonus, esp. in places like Madison.

:goodposting: But Sunday @IU won't be pretty if they can't improve that shooting. Toward the end of that Wisc game, they could have put it away but made, by my count, 8 straight trips down the floor with no points :angry:
