Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (2 Viewers)

GR3 has tons of talent, but his game is puzzling. He often can't seem to use that talent to score or improve his team mates.

Good win for the Michigan program. I'm sure we'll return the favor to you all in late February.

I continue to be impressed with what I see of our freshman role players, Ellis and Schilling looked great tonight. Denzel needs to step it up and stop committing stupid turnovers.

18-2 record with our All-American center sitting injured the past 18 days, I take it.

Outside of the he guy Beilein faced yesterday, he is the best coach in the big 10.

That was just a fantastic game. Both teams did everything to win. The real shame is that we saw two of the best teams in the nation but both hit hard by inkury. Fortunately for MSU, their guys will be back. Dickie V kept referring to UM as a Final Four contender, but I just don't know if they have it in them without McGary.

if we draw a tough matchup, like Kansas last year, we will need to be on from three that day.

The only thing that I think could get them over the hump is if GR3 takes a step forward and becomes aggressive in getting to the basket instead of always settling for jumpshots. That or Zak Irvin figures out how to do more than just shoot 3s. He is 6-6 and Mr Basketball Indiana. I thought he could contribute more, maybe by March? It took McGary all year to find his game.

it can happen with Robinson, like the first half vs Arizona, but I'm never planning on it. Soooooo inconsistent.

Robinson reminds me a lot of Rodney Williams who graduated last year from MN. Extremely athletic. Jump out of the gym. Talk of one and done. Very inconsistent. Doesn't seem to take the next step everyone expects. Maybe a 2nd rounder based on "potential?"

Maybe, but without McGary they are 9-0 with three wins versus top 10 teams.

No AP in the lineup until at least PSU next week for State.

ugh wasn't looking forward to playing against this Iowa team without him, now no Dawson either.

Going to be an interesting couple weeks.

Huge win for MSU. Can't believe they pulled that off, and Russell Byrd of all people with the big shot.

Hated how tight the game was called though. I think I yelled "How is that a foul?" about 15 times, a few of them on Iowa fouls.

What an abortion of a game. Iowa 50 free throw attempts..LOL

Agree its not fun, but you have any better options? Backups are getting solid playing time right now that hopefully will pay off down the road.

Nice to escape with a win tonight...whew

Who would have thought Michigan would be the last undefeated team in conference play?
Beilein is national coach of the year at this point. From last years team, they lost 3 first round NBA draft picks. I know McGary didn't leave, but of he had, he would have been a lottery pick. Pretty amazing that they lost that kind of talent and are able to play so well. It also is frustrating. There is no doubt in my mind UM was the best team in college basketball last year. They should have won the whole thing. It's pretty likely at this point that their entire starting 5 will be 1st round picks. Levert might end up being an NBA player as well. Tough to swallow second place with that kind of roster.

Oh stop...they weren't even the best team in the B1G.
Indiana had a more talented team, but Michigan was the best team last year. Crean is just not a great coach.
So they didn't win the conference regular season title (finished 5th). They didn't win the conference tournament (knocked out in the quarterfinals). Made a nice run in the NCAA tournament but still lost in the championship. Yep...sounds like the best team to me. :lmao:

Not the best. However, the reason they finished much stronger than they started was that of the 8 guys they had in their main rotation, they had 1 sophomore and 5 freshman. Their starting 5 had 3 total years of experience.

Great game by Yogi, he couldn't miss and Stauskas couldn't get anything going with that tough Hoosier D. It's only a 6 point game, but I don't see how UM comes back as they just aren't getting good looks and not making open looks they do get.

Did Wisky blow that game yesterday vs OSU? I was shocked later in the day to see they came back and won. Never saw any highlights. I saw the 1st half then heard the fast start for the Bucks in the 2nd followed by Wisky taking control the next few minutes right before we got to my son's game. Thought there was no chance at that point.

Pretty much. Although OSU did everything they could in the last minute to give Wisc a chance to win.

It's going to be very tough for Indiana to find a way to beat Minnesota at the Barn tonight. Andre Hollins looked rusty earlier in the week, but I expect he will be back at nearly full strength tonight and should be a big factor. Indiana will likely try to guard him with Stanford Robinson.

Good game in the Barn so far. Fully expect the Gophers to close it out. Officiating pretty annoying so far, ticky tack fouls called then nothing called on guys getting hammered going to the rim.
